Inside the £1,000 Asus Mars

We simply couldn't resist! Sorry, Asus, but your super-expensive Mars card was just too tempting not to take apart. After digging out the right screwdrivers, we pull apart this thousand pound card AND manage to put it back together again!

Thanks for this teardown !
It must have been a tad stressful...
Sadly there is no magic, it's more (or less) a 295 cooler.
Still, the cards underneath do look nice ! (as all recent graphics cards, with a huuuuge IHS!)

Would love to see ASUS do this with a 5870.

Then you guys could rip it apart 'n' stuff!

Yea, just what I wanted to see, but it does make me wonder why companies keep sending you their products if they know they're just going to get "abused" like this.

Thanks for that, im surprised you ripped it apart, it being a limited edition and all (and uber expensive). Just goes to show how much bit-tech loves us!

Im sure it does, but im also sure you wont be getting another limited edition card from asus, specially after the detailed explanation of how you levered their 1000£ card apart with a screwdriver

So did you remember to connect the fan in this one? I think my fingers still might be scarred with burns from the last time Tim disassembled a graphics card.

"Hey Hugo, come and grab this lol"

Unfortunately we've returned it to Asus, and even so, that would mean actually breaking the product which is going a bit too far when it's technically only on loan.

that's understandable, but like Corsair Tx750w, manufacturers should not install useless plastic in important places.

I was kinda disappointed when this wasn't in the original article.

And that plastic shroud... why? It's plastic, all it's gonna do is trap heat... I could understand it if they'd made it metal so it had the potential to act like a heatsink.
