How often do you turn off your PC?

How often do you turn off your PC? (for more than an hour)
Mine's been on for 10 days and 18 hours for my computer prior to this post.

Is this bad for my PC? I turn it off every couple weeks. I would turn it off at night if I didn't have music going.

My laptop (which is what I'm currently working on) is never turned off. My desktop sees a shutdown about once a week when I'm home and using it. Otherwise my folks tend to turn it off nightly.

Nightly, why does it need to be on when you're in bed. Unless is decrypting

I turn mine off nightly - I can't justify keeping it on just for torrents. If there's no chance of me being at it, it goes off.

it usually goes off when im sleeping, i dont mind the noise (i find it helps me sleep actually xD) but i always feel bad using the energy for nothing..
my monitor goes off whenever im not at the comp though, i have a feeling its very inefficient given that it heats the room better than my radiator

the only times I shut it off is when i install in new program or there's an update and that's never for more than 5 minutes

Other than that, never, I use sleep mode all the time

At least nightly. It stays on most of the time if I'm in, if I'm going out for a while I'll turn it off.

My personal record is 24 days, it was doing stuff the whole time though.

netbook: off whenever not in use, which is 90% of time when im at home
desktop rig: when im not home. usually turn off over night to save power. currently still testing overclock overnight.

longest period is around a month, with my old platform (q6600, 8GB DDR2 and Abit iP35 Pro, R.I.P. Abit what a fantastic board) when i was Folding and had unlimited electricity.

is it bad for your computer to leave it on all the time? or does it not make a difference if you turn it off every night or leave it on for a month straight?

Reboot every Patch Tuesday.
Switch off when I take it to a LAN (every 3 or 4 months... probably less frequently though now all my friends are away at Uni)

The rest of the time it's in S3 standby.

I only have it on for a 2-3 hours at a time.

To those that leave it on for extended periods of time: Do you not worry about the electricty
consumption/energy bill?

3DGameMan had a question/answer video about this. In summary he said, leaving on is more expensive, but avoids heat expansion/contraction of components in a heating/cooling cycle
