New build for friend
hi all
my friend has recently noticed my aptitued for computers and has asked me to build him a PC for the same price as a 27 inch imac (i.e. the range topping one) or less. i've come up with this so far. he will not be using it for gaming so thats why i chose the 5770 as it still leaves that door open if he chooses to. he is a musician so i put in the good sound card. case-coolmaster cosmos s mobo-asus p6t se cpu- core i7 920 cpu cooler- corsair h50 ram-6gb corsair 1600mhz graphics-asus 5770 psu-be quiet dp pro 650 watt hdd-1tb wd caviar black od-samsung 24x dvd-wr sound card-fatal1ty pro basically its a MAC KILLER but with out the small size. any tips/suggestions welcome. |

no dont worry i've accounted for the monitor and keyboard/mouse and speakers.
i was also wondering if you know if there is a quieter case for the same kind of money. has also said he did not mind if the monitor was smaller than 27" as the only reason he would have gone for one is because of the parts anyway, so i went for the 24" ACER V243 HBD. As i said he is a musician so speakers i went for the logitech x540 5.1 set. keyboard and mouse he isn't fussed so went for the microsoft cordless desktop 6000. |

Okey, the keyboard is pure garbage (his fingers will suffer). I have tried it in the shop, and I could make something better from yoghurt containers.
I would take an another monitor (bad choice). Speakers, well, they cost a lot; what about a home surround system? does he have one? we might connect.... That case is nice; however for the price I would advice something better; an ACTS 840?? in black? |

I'd go for the same as Kyocera, but with a few small changes; a Titan Fenrir for cooling instead and a Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB drive. Also, 1600MHz DDR3 would be a bit quicker and help OCing and is not much more expensive.

I have no idea how that memory finished inside!! I'm sure I have selected the 1.600 MHZ. And I usually verify..... Never happened before... Okay, i7 works on low speeds, so it's just ditto on Intel's advice. (and has low timings).http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cas...assic-review/1 Seagate discs are from a specialist, not a company making vacuum cleaners and similar; I prefer Seagate. (also more reliable). Titan Fenrir, or Scythe Mugen 2 (Mugen 2 much more performing-one of top coolers on the market, but huge). cheaper solution. Silverstone Raven 2 is quiet, some reviews are giving it awards, some are making critics about not cooling the motherboard enough.... It's excellent, I think. There is even HAF 922!!! one of my favorites!!!! a real candy!!! |

The Spinpoint F1s are excellent Hard Drives, fast and reliable. I've got one, and a fair few members of the forums do too, IIRC, and have heard nothing but good things. I'd say it's fair to assume that the F3s are the same.
