PSU Question, is this normal?
I recently bought a Corsair TX 850 Watt PSU and it runs perfectly fine but when I switch my pc off I hear what can only be described as if someone starts rolling their tongue while saying the letter R, kind of like a motor powering down or the PSU fan just catching something for a brief second inside the PSU when I shut down but the sound literally only lasts about 3 seconds.
And I don't want to be voiding the warranty by having a look inside the PSU just to make sure nothing is catching. Does anyone have any ideas please? also the saying of the letter R thing I mentioned, just say the letter R while rolling your tongue and you'll get the sound I'm talking about , I know it sounds stupid but that's the only way I can describe the sound.Anyway any help or info would be appreciated because RMA isn't an option as the PSU works fine so they wouldn't find a fault with it anyway, it's just that sound that's making me wonder what the heck it could be.

This is not normal. RMA the power supply. It sounds like the fan motor has issues. And you don't want the PSU overheat, if the fan fails on you, as it may damage your computer component when it shutdowns due to overheating. Prevention is better than fixing... well replacing in this case.. not to mention cost more. And I remind you that Corsair won't cover your computer, JUST the PSU. Now, in reality they are security messures, but what if they are faulty?

Thanks for the reply Goodbytes,
Anyone else had this issue then? And would you agree with Goodbytes about rma'ing the PSU? The only problem I have with that is I don't have another PSU to put in my PC while that one is being rma'd, do you think if I rang Ebuyer and explained that I need my PC for work purposes that they would agree to collect the potentially faulty one and at the same time have a replacement sent out/brought to my house at the same time? I know that's probably doubtful but just thought I'd ask

Definitely RMA it, but with the retailer not with Corsair as their EU depot is in the Netherlands and they won't cover shipping both ways.

Thanks for that Dragunov,
What do you think ebuyer might say then about the whole rma situation? RE: My suggestion in post 3, because I mean no testing should be needed as it's as simple a fault as mentioned, the psu does work it's just the fan motor obviously has some sort of issue where it has to make the noise mentioned in the 1st post when the pc is shut off. P.S) I never even knew a psu had a fan motor! lol

You could try loosening the fan screws by a quarter to half a turn.
