That's funny, because the Steam page for MW2 says it won't unlock until the 12th of November (currently 2 days and 13 hours away).

Steam isn't the same as a retail copy.

Er, I thought that was the whole idea of using the Steam integration for the PC version - a normal retail copy behaves exactly the same as a Steam purchase.

They obviously work the same but steam unlocks later, probably so that they dont get 100% of the sales.

If you bought a retail copy then you can play the game on 10.11.09, which is when Steam will unlock those copies.

If you bought the game THROUGH STEAM then you can't play until the 12th, which is when Steam unlocks THOSE copies.

It's part of Activision's sneaky system to funnel people towards buying the game at higher prices on the high street.

My copy got sent out early, but I haven't actually received it yet. A lot of places have been advising couriers (not royal mail) that they should deliver on 10.11.09 and hold the package till then.

there was more detail on this on joystiq, cant see it at work. independant game shops were selling it before release to beat gamestop, gamestop were thne allowed by IW/Acti to sell it early in some areas that were effected.

ofcourse we couldnt let them outdo gamestop

If I get it, it will be when its £20 second hand. No retail copy from me. I bought all my COD's second hand. Games Like Assassins Creed 2 gets my cash for a new game. :)

As the mulitplayer piece is worthless anyway Im contemplating renting it for £5.95 from Blockbusters on PS3, as Im sure the single player will still be quite fun (just not worth buying on the PC sadly due to the way they have treated us which would have been my preferred platform of choice to buy it on initially.)

It's £20 brand new in makro, and just £26 in Sainsburys... there are rumours that Morrisons are even going to discount it lower than this.

It'll take the best part of a year for it to reach such a low price again (COD4 still commands a high price)... why wait when you can have it tomorrow?!

It probably has to release dates, one for the US and one for the rest of the world, happened to me with Borderlands and Dragon Age

The cheapest I've seen the game is £4.99.....lol

Gamestation, trade in 2 games from a selection and get MW2 for £4.99....

A pretty damn good deal if you ask me :p

That's not really that unusual for a tuesday release to get a friday dispatch date. 1st class is 1-2 days delivery, shops will assume it will take the longest of those quoted figures, so Saturday dispatch. Then an extra day due to potential delays with the strikes.

Of course, it rarely takes 1st class post 2 days, that's why I get most of my games a day early.
