ALSO i think you can use all three colour led on your case but seperated by different colour, like red blue white red blue white red blue white, or different order (up to yourself).

I REALLY LIKE YOUR MOD, IT LOOKS AWESOME

I agree on the futuristic armour, its a beautiful design & perfect execution. On the LED front, I love the red & blue in equal measure, and the white is very nice too- if it were my build, and I was stuck for choice, I'd have some kind of simple controller or circuit that could alternate between the three + some form of manual selection- for whichever colour suits your mood at the time. Why be forced to choose one colour when you can all three?...

To me this looks like some kind of stealth something-or-other. Like it would be able to exceed the speed limit while being hard to detect.

To keep with your original theme I would suggest a completely black exterior with red or blue LED's or both and a clean white interior.
It would be best if you couldn't see the white through the fins though but from their angle I don't think you would be able to when it is sitting on the ground.
I think the black exterior would make it look kind of vicious and mean so long as the LED's weren't too bright and the white interior would make it look professional and awesome.

I can't wait to see where this goes, it is amazing. I love the fins.
I wish I had the time and money to make something like this, it makes my computer look weak, and you haven't even finished putting it together...
I'll be watching this closely.

Project: "Sidewinder"--sidedoors [9.05]

thank everybody for voting for me

well I've been real busy with school and life but I finally found a place where I can sandblast the "fins" so I have to take all the "fins" of the frame so I decided to put the sidedoors on the frame

I managed to get a Matrix Orbital MX421 for 20 bucks

looks great! and congrats on the motm nomination - thoroughly deserved.

Would look great anodised black imo, and get rid of comparisons to plate armour.

won't the fin bends get a bit mangled by the sandblasting? - bead-blasting on the gentlest setting they had distorted the copper of my project a fair bit, though i guess copper is a fair bit softer and more ductile than aluminium.... How thick in the aluminium you're using?

Bead-blasting is definitely harder on the material than sand-blasting. Regardless of the grit you use, sand-blasting should be OK on aluminum (seems like his thickness is 1/8" or 3/32"). Unless you use big honkin chunks of sand, of course.

I wouldn't sandblast the aluminum. In welding you never sandblast aluminum because the sand will actually embed itself in the soft metal. I'd use a brass wire brush or a flap wheel to clean the aluminum, just my 2 cents.

In my personal experience sandblasting is perfectly fine, but I only have access to a tiny one for small parts (like your fins). Blasted alu stuff there, no problems.

However, it would give you a mature flat finish. Maybe a bit of shine (like it is now) is nicer?

really?? I thought it was the other way, because the beads are round and the sand is chunky.
