Hi there I've just got myself a Razer Imperator 5600dpi gaming mouse to replace a broken MS Habu. Problem is the Razer Imperator wont track on my Steel Series SP mouse mat. I think its having problems with the textured plastic surface. Can any one recommend a good quality gaming mouse mat that works well with Laser mice.
I have one of these because it's small (desk space is limited). Great though However, I imagine you're looking for something a bit bigger.. (better ask someone else). Looks like this (with MX Revolution) so really not that big:
I'm using a Steelseries Icemat ATM, and it's pretty damn good, silky smooth. I've used a Razer Destructor before and thats OK, but not as good as the Icemat.
Razer do some good mats, I have an old razer mantis speed mat. The surface actually slows the mouse down so that it can be used on high dpi settings and it tracks really nice.
The problem with a lot of new Razer mats are tend to be made of cloth or are flexible surfaces. I prefer hard surfaces.
Steel series, whatever the plastic one with the tab on is. Good enough mat, reasonably hard wearing. Used both the Icemat V1 and V2 in the past, great mats but they tend to wear out quite quickly. After you smooth the surface down they get a bit sticky and clingy against the mouse feet. Same thing happened to the larger, metal, old style steel series pad, it got worn smooth and started clinging to the mouse.
Are we talking about the same mat here? The glass one? Admittedly I've only had mine for a couple of months, but it doesn't seem like it would wear out and hasn't shown any signs of becoming 'sticky' yet.
I'm using the same Ed.2 Black Icemat that I've used for years, and my Lachesis has no problems. It's the best gaming surface I have ever had the pleasure of gaming on.
Got a huge q pad here, worn to buggery but it's still excellent. I can highly recommend. It's cloth rather than a hard surface but I find those to be much better. This one in fact http://www.corporate.qpad.se/modules/news/article.php?storyid=148
i got two razor mats the exctMat and the destructer mat. I much prefer the destructer but both are amazing mats
Yes, it wears out. And the surface isn't glass. I use them until they start to catch, then rotate them, then replace them. They last a couple of years. ie two to five thousand hours of FPS gaming.
I use either the razer xact mat and the one I am using at the mo is the razer destructor mat which I am presently enjoying immensely.
Me too, but I'm using it tilted round now because it's worn down to a shiny patch on one side. Tempted by one of the razer ones next.
I've got the Coolermaster sentinal, that is also 5600dpi. I've been using the Razer Shpex it tracks pretty well, mouse feels nice and smooth on it.
