My favourite moment (since the initial suit awesomeness etc) so far was when two Koreans ran into each other and knocked themselves out. Brilliant

Nowell @ CCL has yet to learn the way of the Dremel
My last game of Crysis was epic to say the least. I was (what i thought) being rather stealthy going through the woods when i heard the noise of moving bushes through my headset and turn round to see about 8 enemies behind me.. boom that was a frightening experience, i think they were going to stab me in the back. Then as you can imagine a huge battle with grenades and bullets flying through my head, this lasted about 30 mins as i was using a tweaked config which made the enemies ever more intelligent plus they were speaking in Korean which added to the realism.

for me it was rigging the underside of a jeep with C4 and blasting it through a helicoptor.

or was it the time i rigged a claymore on a roof and then sniped it bringing the hut down on its occupants

or was it destroying a tank with 2 bullets

actually no P think it was the time i sniped a kpa through a hut window at such a range the scope rangefinder said "fo"

punching the hunter on the aircraft carrier in the mouth.

argh i cant make up my mind

*edit*

actually i can it was when i rigged a chicken with c4 and let it wander next to a fuel dump on relic.

oh **** it just go here

Gunsmith, I meant to ask, is it possible to kill people with chickens? Excepting C4 methods.

I should really investigate more inventive means of killing. I lack the coordination though, they always get me killed.

I am replaying both games right now - and looking at pricing, you can get the first game in EA's retail classics range, seven quid from Play, and a tenner from Amazon for Warhead (or £10.40 if you want the original cover) - so cheaper than the collected edition's £25.

I was of the "hate the alien bit" school the very first time I played Crysis, but second time round I loved it since I chose the right weapons and only once did I get lost through the ship. My only criticism is that you were in danger of missing the cutscenes if you were right at the back door of the ship before you started the level afterwards.

Now I'm replaying Warhead, it just gets to the point and chucks you straight into so much action, there are times when you have to be stealthy but other times where you can have all guns blazing. Whereas old and new AvP has a 20 year old established universe to trade from, the Crysis games nicked one bit from Predator but then went off in their own graphically impressive direction. When I complete Warhead again I'm going off to search for mods as they had that big competition ages ago to add levels on to the first game iirc.

It's not just the Predator suit thing, there's also the weapon customisation which I hope they haven't simplified in the third game - I've left Psycho carrying a FY71 since the start of replaying Warhead and been able to customise for any situation, saving the other slot for something longer range like the sniper or gauss rifles or close combat like the shotty. Literally my sole criticism of the game is that (at 1024 x 768 anyway) the Uzis look ridiculously oversized graphically, but maybe that's just my monitor and I should step it up to 12 x 10.

Disagreeing with something Cervat Yerli said quoted in the last gaming podcast, I'm one of those gamers that *does* care about the island setting considering they managed to vary the battle settings quite nicely - and want to see the end of the first game played out in a final standalone add-on. Never cared about multiplayer outside of the free trials on Steam, but as single player experiences they're both brilliant and Crysis 2 is my definite Christmas buy if it holds the November release date.

In fact I'm off to play some more now, I've got more aliens and KPA combined to take care of in Warhead...

I think it was good to have this replay of both games now, but Crysis is giving me jip in Win7 64, after crashing right at the end on the carrier, it's refused to restart since so after updating the cats I thought stuff it and uninstalled, if I want to try out mods I'll go back to XP to play it as Vista was the newest OS when the game came out - it seems happiest on that. I can stick with Warhead which you can pick up and play because it's shorter, but with a much more free-roaming end for its conclusion.

Checked out all the general hype and trailer for Crysis 2 and I'm looking forward to it. That's my Christmas game but 10th December is a bit of a late release date and I hope EA doesn't decide to push it back to next year.

Well the physics affects the gameplay loads. I had everything on low, played halfway through and hid in a shed from a heli, upgraded system, everything on high, heli blows up said shed with me inside.

If you wanted to play this game for its gameplay you might as well have picked up far cry 2.

Im sure playing this game on its lowest settings is just as much "fun" though...yeah right.

Answer to the original question: I tried Crysis for a couple of hours when it came out and got bored to death. I guess you can also enjoy it/ make it amusing by trying out all the wacky stuff, but to me it was just a tech demo.

Having played both at near their highest settings, the graphics of Far Cry 2 are much more similar to Crysis than the gameplay is.
