It's not a lot to go on but I had this retweeted on my feed:

O2 customers still in contract will get a limited time special upgrade offer. More details in the coming days at www.j.mp/iPhoneOnO2

http://twitter.com/O2/status/15651435846

This will no doubt be like the early adopter upgrade we got when we went from first gen to 3G. Although I never thought they'd do this again because the first gen wasn't subsidised! Good either way.

o2 are doing pretty good deals on recycling your old phone. It tells me that my 2 year old 16gb 3G is worth over. £180!

http://www.o2recycle.co.uk/

Yes, you can probably get more for it on eBay once unlocked, but you have all the hassle of dealing with eBay and PayPal, and Aunts in Nigeria wanting to buy in for their sick nephews with western union money transfers. If I can get a fair wedge of the upgrade price I'll be more than happy.

Unsurprisingly the recycle price was £196 yesterday! So... Might be worth getting rid sooner rather than later, lol.

Nice one. That would make an upgrade to an iPhone 4 much more palatable (bonus: my current contract is due to expire ).

Mine expired in January.

Sooo glad O2 didn't let me upgrade last year.

Sometimes Cex give better prices than the recycling websites. I sold my iTouch with them last year, no hassle, decent price.
For example, my 6-month old Moto Milestone can get £170 at Cex, but only £70 from the moneysupermarket.love2recycle.com or o2recycle.co.uk

Been thinking about this, and I'm not really sure of the answer, I only know a couple of people with an iPhone and a couple with HTC's, but they are biased toward one or the other, so I'm hoping I can get a balanced answer here, from both HTC and iPhone users, as this will probably decide which way I go when changing my phone.

As Flash is not available on the iPhone, do you really miss it when browsing the web?

Is the Andriod market place far behind the iPhone App store?

In my opinion, Android Market has got more decent stuff for free than the App Store (having used a Moto Milestone and an iPod Touch).

Also, only Android 2.2 has Flash available, and that's only on one device at the moment (Nexus One), so lack of Flash isn't really a problem (most sites I visit on my phone are mobile optimised, or don't use Flash, I haven't noticed any issues).

Don't know if it's been mentioned in this thread yet as I've been MIA from bit for more than 3 days, but Chen and his Gixmodo brethren were locked out of the WWDC event, being denied access from the event in the form of Apple ignoring their numerous requests for tickets. They had to liveblog the whole thing using "Gizmodo inside reporters" who were essentially freelance photographers, vloggers and media personnel who acted as "media for hire" for covering the entire event on behlaf of Gizmodo, without actually telling anyone at the Keynote or other events that they were writing for Giz. Personally I think this was exactly the right thing for Apple to do and at the same time applaud Gizmodo for not letting it stop them covering the event.

I hope someone at apple has realised that its Antialiasing that makes Graphics looks good and the A4 has enough grunt to Anti alias gaming on that screen. Otherwise games will look rubbish again :-(

If you go and do some digging you'll find out that 3D AA support on iPhone 4 is now more about the sotware than the hardware. Yes, the A4 can support AA, but will iOS4 and the games that are going to be available support it? I'm thinking not initially, but eventually they will.

Any idea what the two handsets are going to cost here in the UK without a handset? Some of us aren't approaching the end of a contract any time soon ^^ I'm not 100% sure that I'm going to have to buy it from Apple but if I do, I want to know what it'll cost me

By the way, my old handsets are FS in the marketplace, link in my sig

[edit]

Google fu to the rescue - using US figures and converting them to GBP as of today 16 GB and 32 GB models will cost £413 and £483 respectively. Not all that big a sting for myself considering I have three good condition older generation handsets in my posession worth more than the value of those combined (only two of which are for sale)

I would go by the current Pay As You Go prices of the 3GS. £450 and £500 respectively.

Ugh, so I just realised that my T-Mobile contract isn't over until September.

So, now I have three choices:
  • Get an iPhone in June and just pay two bills for 3 months (£35x3=£105 on top of my new contract). Which also means I won't be able to port my number.
  • Contact T-Mobile and ask for an early cancellation. I then should be able to port my number.
  • Wait until September. Three Months? That's the worst thing you can say to an early adopter! (get that reference and you get a cookie).
Anyone know what T-Mobile's early cancellation fees are like?
