so by the end of october the i3-540 and 550 will be the same price? bit of an odd decision. Nice to see lower prices though, i can see the new prices hitting AMDs cheaper chips quite hard.

If you're going to spend $885 on a 970, you may as well go all out and pick up the 980x for $1000 as I assume the 970 has a locked multiplier.

P.S. the table needs to be corrected; you've listed the 970 as having 4 cores :).

are the Pentium's now being launched on 1156?=\

to be honest, it's pretty damn stupid half these CPU's. E.g. the i5 760 possible 2.8ghz. It's just a fricken i5 750. But, I guess price drops are always nice.

Your chart says the 970 is 4+4 core CPU, but the text says it's a 6 core. So is it 4+4 or 6+6?

Please bit-tech can you present us with the prices in GBP and EUR and maybe JYEN directly according to the post day's exchange rate? Or get some sort of dynamic system the updates those values with value fluctuation?

A little confusing that some processors start with an E but are LGA1156. Take the E6600 for example. There is a LGA775 processor of that name already. Intel sure do like to be difficult. That or the chart is wrong.

And completely pointless since the prices never work out according to exchange rates.

it should drop into the i7 960 price bracket and the 960 will go EOL or drop a bit.

So what about Sandybridge and the new 2011 pin socket?

Thats a shame. as i said on the i7 980x review:

"i wonder how much the i7 970 will roll in at... that appears to be the first 32nm six core non extreme edition on the roadmap. Its probably not worth worrying about for me, even at £400 that would be a lot to stomach for a CPU."

What im interested in is how much of intels pricing reflects their costs, and how much of it is because there is no competition for the premium/performance/enthusiast CPU's, so they can really ramp the prices up at the high end.

Are you serious? Currency Converter! There's an App for that! or better yet GOOGLE it. I'm just happy Bit-Tech used USD instead of Russian Rubles.

I'm preparing to upgrade and jump off the sinking AMD ship so the Core i7 950 price drop has me very happy. Sorry AMD but your too slow, great prices though.

No, but you can you get a rough idea by taking the current price in Sterling and reducing by the percentage indicated by the table.

e.g. it is stated that the i3-530 will reduce from $138 to $117 = 15% reduction. Current UK price is ~£100 so the October reduction should bring it down to £85, in theory.

youd be lucky to see any, theyl be out of stock before you can sneeze, but just in case i might wait a bit and see what turns up , wait too long though the economy will probably sneeze and land in bed for 12 months .
