Hello boys and girls, are you sitting comfortably?
Let me tell you the story of a big red box and a rather nasty explosion (I'll get to that bit later)

I'll start at the beginning. I picked up a rather nice Cooler master Stacker 832, thats a picture of one there for those of you that don't know what it looks like
    [IMG]

Thats what the original one would have looked like but mine is a red one, Ferrari red to be more precise.

Thats it there in all it's glory.

Now the idea for this went something like this.
I thought I'd do something nice for my son for getting through school and doing well. So I dropped a couple of subtle hints along the lines of "would you like a nice new shiny mildly modded case". The answer I got was" I don't care how crappy my case is, it's whats inside I'm interested in"

I thought ok then you ungrateful little git I'll have it for myself .

So there was this big red box sat in the corner for weeks, I kept looking at it and thought, ok I'll polish it up and put my current rig in it and then mod my case.

Yeah, right, you lot aint stupid you what happens next...it all comes apart and gets expensive...lol So with out further ado, I'll get on with it and stop waffling.

As of yet the final spec hasn't been finalized as I'm still getting bits and pieces together, but I'll up date that as I go along.

Right then, lets get the big red box naked and start a bit of painting.

As you can see the chassis is in good condition, there's not going to be masses of modding going on it's mainly just going to be a big tart up.

What I'm going to do is as follows: The chassis is going to be done in black with a gold and silver metal flake finish the top and the bottom are going to be the same and the door and side panels are going to be red with the same metal flake gold/silver combo, which has a slight flip to it and the mobo tray will be white and again the same silver/gold metal flake finish.

So lets get painting. !'st thing to do is get the chassis clean up and apply a black satin base coat.

Theres 2 coats of undercoat and then 2 coats of satin applied over the top it's then left to dry over night before the metal flake is applied

Next update we'll have some flakes on.

cheers for reading if you've got this far:D

    Time for a little update...

Applying the meal flake to the chassis..

First of all I apply a layer of lacquer to the satin paint, this dos nothing apart from help the flake stick to it, next the first layer of silver is applied and then the gold, then 3 more coats of lacquer and left to dry over night.
Next step is a quick rub down with some wet and dry sand paper(600 grade) and then 3 more coats applied....Not done yet. Finally once this has dried over night a final flatting back with 1200 grade wet and dry paper and last but not least a good rub down with some T cut and some bloody sore fingers thrown in just for good measure.

Any way, here's a few pics of the finished chassis and the base...

You'll have to excuse my photography skills the pics here really don't do the paint job any justice at all, I think what I need to do is get everything out side and have a go in sunlight as I'm really struggling to catch all the nice little shinny sparkly little bits...

Had it out in the sun, but still not able to catch it right...Maybe some one can give me a few tip on how to get it right. I know a really expensive camera would help:wallbash:

    Mobo Tray and PSU Modding

I'm not going to go in to to much detail about painting the mobo tray, it's the same process as before apart from the fact it's white with the silver/gold fake over he top ......

And now for the PSU, first of all it's stripped down and to say t was a bit nasty...well have a look for yourself....

Time for little clean up and the some modding I think!

    Thats a little bit better...

First off all the fan gets sprayed in Chrome paint, which comes out more like a polished aluminum than chrome and then some red LED's fitted....

Next the PSU case gets sprayed up in a nice stone fleck paint..
