Dug/tnt'd a ~128 long channel to bedrock. Rough and ready, but with a few more people we could strip out that entire 128*128*70 section in a day or two.
I'm using Minecraft Structure Planner for the layer-by-layer map/plan for the sphere. Really nice programme, if you haven't checked it out already. Good for spheres, domes and a few other things. has a 3d view of sorts. It also has a free build mode where you can check out some builds before committing them to the server. ![]() I've never made a minecraft video before today. it wasn't what I was intending to make either (JR, i'll spend more time on the Pyramid vid) but here's a quick attempt to immortalise the day of the exploding basement or w/e Peter was building with TNT under the guild hall.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-45IESIX0OM Last edited by Kroy; 5th Jan 2011 at 03:10. What on earth were you building under the guild hall peter? Also, the rail line next to the hall is still in disrepair.

i suggested, some time ago, that we get cuboid protection around the guild hall.
seems like it might still be necessary idea....

I've brought this up on the server before, but this is of course a much better place...
Is it true that the MC-server we have now has a maximum of 48 player-slots and we only use 20 because of bugs and such? If so, could the remaining slots be used for a second server? I'm guessing you can't but here is why i would like to see this..The current server, with health disabled and mob-spawning turned off, is all about building. This can be very fun indeed, but i feel it lacks a bit of a challenge. I like the survival aspect of the game. If possible would like to request a second server with all options enabled Just to add some twists. Going creeper hunting with a group of people sounds like so much fun!! :PI would like to see everybody's thoughts on this ![]() P.S. I must say i'm not fully aware of the current state of SMP. I believe it's playable right? |

I'm down for the idea of the second server.

hell yes! I've said before that going hunting for mobs would be fun! Everyone armed with only bows and a full inventory of arrows. Pure awesome!

A longer night than day cycle would also be nice to maximize monster hunting.

It's great to see so many of you like the idea of a survival server!
![]() I am thinking of hosting this server myself because i don't think MPUK are going to run two servers for the price of one and i don't see bit-tech paying for both servers. Would be awesome if they would though, so i'll wait a bit before setting everything up :P I am currently hosting a MC-server, but the maximum playercount i have had so far is 3, thats not much load. I am not sure how the server will perform with say 8-10 people online, but this would be a nice test :P I'm on a 50/50Mbit fiberconnection (yes 50Mbit up ). My current ESX-box is an AMD Athlon II X4 635 2.9 GHz with 4 gig of DDR3, so i think the hardware should be up for it. Only problem i see is ESX itself being a bitch :POnly thoughts i am having is, should this be a standard MC server (so only the server jar from notch) or do we need hey0? The problem with using hey0 is this. Every update breaks the server till an update for hey0 is released. When using the standard version, it is just a matter of updating the jar and the server is good to go. Although there would be some auto-backup that needs implementing... Any of the current serveradmins have any idea how this is done on the MPUK server? I would like everybody's thoughts on this as well :P |
