Pirates - Obsidian700D [ update: 150811 Gamescom is coming - watercooling overworked

Hey m8´s

Beside our Roku Projekt which we started a few weeks ago, we´re currently working on this Case. It´s an Corsair Obsidian 700D which was supported by Corsair. So we want to send a big thank you to Corsair for their Help and Support over the last years and naturally this great case!!!

Probably, the Case will be shown on the Corsair Booth at the Cebit next year, so we thought, it would be nice to make a special "Corsair" themed Case for them. So after a short while of thinking which way to head....we decided to make a window in the left panel in shape of the Corsair Logo (without the Text) and a big Airbrush which will enclose the whole case.

The Airbrush was one of the 1st things we started, so here are the first pics of it....(work in progress)....

thanks a lot m8´s!!!

@modding-extreme....hehehe thats true...we share the same ideas when i saw the window of your obsidian it was just like ...noooo not again...
But i´m totally sure that we both will make a kickass mod out of it which won´t look like twins

Beside the work on this and the Roku Project, we started to work on some radgrills 1-2 weeks ago...now that the most of them are done...i thought i might share a few pics with you....

thx mß´s!!

Today we made 2 other Fan/Radgrills....i think 1 of them we´re going to use at the backside of the case...but maybe we will use another one of this for the inside....

but I think when you use it with a fan it will not allow so much air to flow through it or?
yeah, thats true, therefore we already plan another version of it with a few more holes in it so that more air could get through the grill...

In the last days we completed the 2nd sidepanel cutout....first we started with the Shape of the Corsair Logo...but then we found 2 other 700D mods which will get the same window, so we thought that we should overwork our window design so that it stays unique and its also a bit easier for us to integrate it into the airbrush....

beside that we made another new radgrill for the top of the case...this time we used a new sandwich material (don´t know its name) which looks like wood on 1 side and like metall on the other side...but it´s made of plastic with a thin metall layer laminated on it.

The combination of the materials make it easy to work with, but the result is tough like a metallpiece...(really a nice material)

Thx m8´s

after a "longer" break because of an accident (followed by complications and a long rehab period) i can show you a short update on this case....

Not so much happened in the time between, but we developed a few new custom plexiglas fillports which we are going to use on this mod. They can replace those standard rubber parts where you can put your tube through when running an external watercooling.

But enough of the words, here are the first pics of them:

These can be taken out....

and been replaced with our fillports

beside that we also made a few new inner parts for watercooling reservoirs...just to see which of them we´re going to use in this mod (but haven´t decided up to now)

thx a lot m8´s!!

after another month without any news to this project i can finally show you another update....in the last month we were very busy because we had to move our workshop to a much bigger place so that we have more space to be creative

But one of the most important things first! We would like to send a big Thank you to the guys @ Corsair for the cool Hardware which arrives today !!!!( the first parts for the system)

Now that the most of the work is done we can begin to start over with our projects...so we started with another "fangrill" which we will use inside of the case for the fan on the rear...we already prepared a grill for it, but we thought it will look better if we change it for a more closed version which will cover the complete fan....

so we tooked a sheet of metall and started to cut out our fangrill....after that we bent it and startet to paint it

Beside that we started to finalize the airbrush on the outside of the case (and added a lot details)...

and we also prepared a cover for the midplate

Quote:
please please PLEASE tell me your going to put that neon green ship inside a bottle shaped reservoir
sure thats the plan...but i´m not sure if the reservoir will be bottle shaped....because that could be very difficult (but we will see )

today we made only minor progress on the case itself....but the major parts of the hardware arrived so that only minor parts are missing at the moment....

beside that we finished the cover for the midplate....just a few cuts were made so that it looks more natural like a sheet of wood from a shipwreck then we started the painting process to make it look older

and inside the case for a quick test...

today another short update

we wanted to do much more......but then other things had to be done first

but what we could manage to do....

we added the PSU, the SSD´s and the first LED´s to the Case....

Before we could assemble the SSD´s we first had to build something what can hold them...so we thought that we like the look of the midplate and decided to go for the same style with the ssd´s ...so we cut out another sheet of wood and added all neede holes...after that we added some color with our airbrush gun and finally mounted the SSD´s on it so that we could put it into the case for a first test....

After that we tooked the Fan which was mounted under the midplate and screwed it to the bottom of the Case ...so that it can put fresh air through the skull ....because of its upside down position the Fan offers an ideal position for a LED Spot which we mounted on top of it.....

I wouldn't have the Led's next to the wood- it ruins the looks of it.
oh thats just at the moment....it was the first spot we installed for a test...in the last days we try out various positions and combinations of LED Spots to find the perfect combination.....for the "normal" illumination we will use white LEDs and for the skulls we will use the red spots...but we find a few good places for the white spots so that they cover the most of the red shine (from direct views)

Today another package with hardware for the system arrives so that we would like to send a big thank you to MSI!!

But now, we also have the spoilt for choice (i hope google translated correct)

Beside that we started to assemble the hardware ....

thx!!

in the last days not so much happened, because we were trying different combinations of gfx cards to get the best performance out of the system, beside that we mounted the plexiglas behind the sidepanel, so that the outside of the case is now complete....in the next days we´re going to optimize it so that it will make no problems during the cebit next week

Awesome build!
Although, case looks a bit empty, should really get some proper watercooling in there
thx!!! we already plan to integrate a complete watercooling setup, but for the cebit we decided to use the H70 so that Corsair could demonstrate their own cooling solution with that case on their booth. The case will be used for a few of their demonstrations during the cebit, so we tried to make them a good showcase for their products
But after the cebit we will continue the building phase....

Send me one of those 460's
too sad, there all integrated (see picture below)

I though you were just going to be using the white as a base outline and was expecting colour, but in the end it fits in with the theme amazingly.

Is there a layer of clear coat over the top?
thx a lot m8!!!
and yeah, there are 7 or 8 fine layers of clear coat on top so that it has a real nice glossy effect

In the last days we completed the case to fit Corsairs needs during the cebit...that means a few additionally cables has to be integrated (so that they could integrate their newest SSD Series) and the 2x2TB Seagate HDD´s were also installed. Beside that we changed the GPU´s for 3x460 GTX. Just for the nicer look of it.

Yesterday we were spending the most of our time on the road, driving to Hannover to bring the Case and our Navigator Project to their exhibition places. (Corsair: Hall 14 Booth F40, XMG Schenker - Hall 23 Booth A01)

After a longer period without any updates....we got some news...

Before we take the case with us to the Gamescom we wanted to overwork the Watercooling setup to that those parts matches more our thoughts for the case....

But before we start, we want to send a big thank you to Aqua Tuning & Coolermaster for their support!!!

First we wanted to use this Reservoir ....but then, after a short time we decided to build another reservoir which will be placed inside the drive bays....but we will take the pump with its top, because of the matching color scheme....

the new rez:

we also made another cover for the lower part of the case so that the PSU area is now covered and the cables are hidden (most of them)....
