Case Mod Heat Blast...Final update..Christmas day 2010

Crack on lads it doesn't bother me, if you remember in last log it was dogs hoover crafts and god knows what else. My first full time job was in 1981 . I was on £65 a week. Thats still what I'm on right now with statutory sick pay if they ever get round to paying it.

I might even get round to some modding if I get a break in the weather so I can get out in the garden for a while.

So in the mean time we'll just use this thread as a chat room

Nothing wrong with my eyes, I sorted it out and dumped the pink, this guy kept it as the finished article.

It's good to see that not all kids are addicted to face book. My eldest is almost 17 and hates it as well.

And as for the weather, I've just checked the forecast for the next few days and it doesn't look to bad, so hopefully I'll be getting some painting done and get a few updates on here.

Today when woke up and looked out of the window I was DEPRESSED. It was frosted over and foggy. I took Dylan to school and alas I was still sad.
Then the sun came out and burned off all the fog and I was HAPPY

WooooHoooo...yeah baby... MOD MOD MOD MOD!!!!!!!

Right then, so the sun came out today and I've had a chance to do a bit of painting...



That's a test for the colours on an old panel. I haven't lost the plot just yet.

So 1st of all here's what I'll be using. as normal nothing particularly special, just shop bought stuff..



Because of the way the final colours will need to match up I can't take the case apart and spray every panel individually as I normally would so this means masking every thing I dont want paint on..





So thats the 1'st coat of undercoat on, 2 more and I'm there..







A couple of hours to dry and a quick rub down and it's ready for some more paint.

This what I'll be starting off with..

That's the 1'st coat going on..



and 3 coats later it looks like this... Then add quick dusting of gold metal flake..simples

Lost the other half of the update where it timed out Tell, just sorting it out now.

Had a great big update and it timed out...Bollocks so here we go again...

Once the purple was on and being left to dry i turned my attentions to the yellow..







yeah, thats right more fogged edges....

And now for some more...



And this is it put together. If it looks odd that might have some thing do with the fact that it's still only half a paint job..






So all in all a productive day, if it looks a little rough thats because it is. It'll be left to dry over night and then flattened back ready for the next stage...

I just need a few good days and I can pretty much get the paint work sorted after that it all gets easy.

Thanks Fabou and dancingbear84. It's come out pretty nice even if I do say so myself. I think it works well with that yellow. The purple was metallic to start with and it looked good, I just tuned it up a bit. I do love metal flake finishes and that is the ideal base colour to use.

Cheers Tel / Kidmod. Hows that beasty of yours coming along Tell, ain't see any updates for a while.

The knees getting there slowly, I probably need a few more weeks off for it to totally settle, got to go back to the quakes next week. But I'm thinking I need to go back to work on Monday next week I don't get sick pay and it's to close to Christmas to be sitting around. if it was the middle of summer I could cope with another few weeks off.

Any way, the up shot is that I aim to get this project painted before I go back, weather permitting.

@Kidmod, it's still only half finished I've still got loads to do to it . it'll look very different in a few days time.

His written English is normally better than ours , so I reckon he's on the same stuff as me. The first day I took it I swung the car off the drive and slammed the front wing straight into the bin. It takes a few days to get used to driving stoned...

It's both. It's mental gear, knocked me bandy for the first few days...wooohooo

I got the new stash yesterday, I've been put on half measures for the next 2 weeks.

it's the boredom that does my head in just sitting about. I've done what I can when I can with the case and finished off every xbox game that I own. I spend about 8 hours a day buzzing around the forum, maybe more..lol

The weather today, although not good, has been good enough for me to get out in the garden and do a bit more painting.

This is what I've been up to...

First of all, pick up where I left off yesterday and give everything a light rub down. Then I masked up the entire case and drew on the flame pattern..





Then comes the hard bit..cut it all out ready for painting..







Next Slap on some paint and fog the edges to form the pattern...







Then very carefully remove all the masking tape...#

And this is what comes out.....FLAMES







And a little teaser of what it looks like together...





So not a bad days modding again, It still needs rubbing down and lacquering and then more rubbing down, polishing and theres a bit on the lid that had some tape left on that need sorting out. I don't know how I left it on , but some how I did so there's still quite a bit to do, but you can see pretty much what it'll end up like.
