MSI (MS 7360) mainboard - Ok for overclocking?
Hey everyone,
Just a quick one really. Would this motherboard be suitable for overclocking? MSI (MS 7360) P35 chipset. I appreciate that il need a decent PSU, and case etc. But just thinking about the mainboard atm EDIT: Added linky to board specs http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=pr...2&prod_no=1215 Any opinions would be greatly appreciated! thank you Last edited by bdigital; 15th Nov 2010 at 17:30. |

You can overclock on any mobo that has access to the right setting on the mobo. Some will have more options than others and some just overclock better than others.
And what I've just said looks about as clear as mud

![]() Shame scan dont show the list of supported CPUs, it says 45nm support, but dont know if that would be backward compatable for the e2160 chips. |

I can vouch for the GA-G31M-ES2L. It overclocked my E5200 to 3.5GHz and my E3300 to 3.36GHz. Its a little cheaper than the one jeff posted, but its decent enough. I had a thread about its reliability a few weeks ago, if you care to search for it. £35 from scan, although you can find it on their today only page quite often for £32.
edit: I have an E2160 too, and will soon be putting it in the G31M-ES2L. Aiming for 2.8-3GHz.

It should be ok G31 is the older chip set
Edit http://www.gigabyte.com/support-down...cs=Intel%20G31 looks like it will take anything same as my GA-P31_DS3L |

That limits you to the top mobo then. All the rest are ddr3

sorry, don't know what I was looking at. If you are using your own GPU I would say the top one is slightly better

Also, PSU wise, ive found a CX400 ATX2.2 and a CX430 ATX2.2
Are either of these good PSUs for overclocking (it kinda goes against my rule of buying modular, but reviews are pretty good and the price is right) CX400 http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/p...u-400cxuk.html CX430 http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/p...psu-430cx.html |

For the extra few quid I would say go for the 430, but either will do. The main thing is a stable power supply. I can see myself picking up one of those..lol

Yeah i thought the CX were hard to come by, but ive found them at novatech. Not sure if these are the right ones tho? ATX2.2 is new to me?
Do you think that because the CX400 reviews so well, that its a given that the 430w is quality too? As long as its happy overclocking and is powerful enough then im happy
