I thought I saw 1tb SSD a while ago (4-5 months ago) so how is this news? I'm assuming price?

Think there have been some PCIE SSDs running to that sort of capacity, but I don't believe I've seen a SATA drive of this size before. Anyone?

I already saw 1 TB SSDs. Granted, they were server grade hardware and hardly available for end customers but they existed a long time ago.

    OCZ Colossus, for example.

thats a whole lot of SSD... though I bet the price will be so outlandish I'd have to sell my car, or a tesitcle or something.

I'll stick with 1TB spindle drives and keep my SSD use to system drives for now I think, though it is pretty awesome

The 1Tb OCZ Colossus retails at over £2k :eeek:

I think perhaps I'll put of buying one of these for now ;)

Erm. Why? Storing and serving media is the perfect application for spindle media: lots of long sequential reads, low I/O, large capacity requirement. And on a server I imagine it's tucked away somewhere out of earshot, so the drive noise isn't an issue.

So I ask again - why?

So with two controllers can we expect TRIM issues?

Would be nice if they could sell them for £350.00 each but I guess that's not going to happen.

Wow for $3000 you can take it home and be the envy of every geek in your neighborhood or buy your wife breast implants and be the envy of every geek and non geek in your neighborhood. Either way $3000 is a lot for silicon so I would go for the best bang for buck option on this one.

    This is so great.

I think it will cost about a billion pounds though.

Sweet, maybe the price will have dropped enough in 3-4 years time that we can actually afford them. :D

    (also hey, new here ;))

Sure hope so, but by then you probably won't even be able to fit your steam folder on a 1TB drive.
