Sparks are lovely!

I did forget to mention, that the sparks might possibly be similar to a sparkler, if you shorted out caps on a monitor which was running 5 minutes ago, but even then you might not get to see sparks half that big, so If the monitor has been off for a week, then the sparks would be small, after 2 weeks, they may not even be visible anymore, etc.

But there is another way to discharge all the caps actually! With the garden hose, or a bottle of water, or leave it in the rain, etc All you want is the plastic case, so feel free

Electricity flows through water, so if you get a couple of litres of water in there, the caps will get discharged nicely You probably wouldn't see any sparks, since water has significant resistance, and sparks don't work underwater.

Even if your hand and the bottle were all wet, you wouldn't even have to worry about the electricity flowing through the water into your hand as you tipped the water in, not just because of the resistance of the water, but because the power available is only a small residual charge.

There will be a bit of yucky mess come strip down time, since the water will mix with the dust.
