Haemonculus Is a great choice and fits in most armys happily I would suggest that untill you know fully what type of DE army you are going for.

I think that power sword looks great, its different to the normal lightening down the blade, but still gives the right look to it.

Nearly finished my first Ultramarines tactical squad (about time, ).
Got another one sat on the shelf waiting to be base coated, and my chaplain which I'm keen to get started, as the finecast quality is a damn site better than my Imohtek one (which to be honest I think was a reject, ).

That sounds like a great idea phil. you could even have a impact point under his back foot spreading to a big crack with the rebar in or something.

Why not look into some of the resin bases phil? theres quite alot of different ones I put my ork warboss on a stone one i had spare.

if you haven't pinned him yet i usually glue my guys to a base then break them off gently when i am finished the painting so that i can work on the base or transfer to another base

I don't agree here, certain units and certain armies suit different bases, Orks i think can get away with grass and greenery on the bases, space-marines cant they need something more man-made or industrial.

from my experiences playing against dark eldar the archon is really good, so are the hameonculus, especially the special character one who makes wracks troops.

Also troop wise, wytches are cool too, they just wipe my space wolves away most times

Look great lira.

My, slightly less impressive, tactical squad,

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Still not decided on whether I want to stay with Regal blue armour or full Ultramarine blue. In some lights the regal looks really good, in others it looks very dark. Only one or two very small things left to do on the squad, like scopes and eyes, and a little left on the sergeants head.

I think I need to get a new Blood red too, as mine have lost their brightness.

Some nice looking models Phil and Lira.

Cerberus try just highlighting them with Ultramarine blue and maybe give them a blue or black wash in recesses on the armour, should add some more depth to them. Other than that their coming along nicely.

Was at my local store today picking up a DE battle force as a birthday gift from the girlfriend and the guy talked me into buying an Archon to go with them as I was picking paints/brushes out. So now I need to figure what I can get for £25 again.

Did try highlighting with ultramarines, but I think a. my highlighting skills suck, and b. its a bit of a jump from regal to ultramarine blue.

The one there that is in all ultramarine blue, is highlighted slightly with space wolf grey, which does look nice, but to my eyes, doesn't look 'Ultramarine', it looks too bright and pastel coloured.

looks good, the grass works done like that...

but in general [to me] 40k = warzone, all foliage is either dead, dying or burnt [or weird things if 'nids are involved] so having 40k stuff stood in what looks like the middle of someone's lawn just doesn't look right...

They look pretty nice Crazy.

Need tomorrow to come so I can start building my Dark Eldar. Though now I'm stuck on what theme to use for bases, I guess a city themed one would suit them best since I would assume they raid cities etc for their kicks.
