You will never catch me piloting a plane or heli in mp. There's just no point in seeing me constantly flying into cliffs, sea or trees 5 seconds after take off.

Having said that it looks mighty impressive though.

If only more people could think like this. Not much sucks more than thinking you'll hitch a ride with some random pub only to have him slam into the ground a few seconds later. Everyone's got to learn some time, but that time is in an empty server, or when you don't have passengers.

There are many better pilots than myself when it comes to jets and attack helicopters, I've learned this and put my effort into a different field: transport helicopters. It's always a great feeling to hop into one at the start of the round and have it live all game. Although nothing will ever beat BF2142 on Titan mode. From the transport in the Titan hold "W" and aim straight down, your nose will catch on the corridor leading to the reactor and cause you to go head over heels out of the Titan. Simply hold the same buttons and you'll do a full front flip without harm.

I hate that stuff too, if you really want to learn there are many other empty servers to practice on. Once you get proficient then join a populated server and then start practicing on dodging rockets.....

That SP Jet mission looks interesting, wish it were in HD though... audio was pretty neat too.

That being said I wonder if the F18 will be a 2 seater in MP... the F15 was so much fun with a mate (who can fly properly) back in BF2

A flight stick is always easyier in my opinion. I got a thrustmaster 1600m for about £35 a year ago for BC2 only to find BC2 didn't support it or any joystick for that matter as far as i know. But i have read reviews its very sturdy and holds its calabiration over time, it does feel sturdy but not used it yet in a game yet. might fire up BF2 now i think about it.

Seeing as BC2 didn't have any planes its hardly surprising.

I've always found the mouse to be the best for flying choppers though, as you've infinite movement and seem to have much more control over them than with a stick. Although I never managed to get the skill to roll the choppers in BF2,

I always switch over to keyboard-only mode for flying the helicopters, seems the easiest option.

Dice messed up imho. I got BF : BC2 some time after most others did - when hardly anyone was still learning, only had one go in a heli , crashed and and got loads of abuse.

Why Dice didn't include any SP flying time or even a practice aerial based map bot match is beyond me . If they do that again with BF3 i.e. throw people in at the deep end with only multiplayer flying, they're just hurting any community. No one wants to join a game genuinely trying to learn and get flamed by the more experienced and leet players.

I got quite good at Heli's in BF2, but for the life of me couldn't fly planes. I used to annoy people by flying it across the map as a quick transport and jumping out above a target/capture point etc!

But it wouldn't hurt to have integrated a flight tutorial into the SP to give people a grounding in the basic movement and controls. Finishing the SP then having to learn a major component of play through trial and error online seems like a missed opportunity. It probably lost the game a few players.

I've tried flying both jets and choppers and come to the conclusion that I am and always will be a ground hugger! Whether it be BF2 BF:BC2 or even BF:H, for some reason I just can't get the hang of it.

All I can say is the flyboys better watch out for the AA that will be coming their way :-)

Especially when this is the US anti-air vehicle
