SSD too slow
I have just bought a 2500k and a Asus P67 pro board.

I put my SSD ( vertex 2E 120g ) in and it booted up in ACHI mode , great.

I formatted and installed windows again ( as it was under IDE last build ). All seems very quick but Crystal Disk is only giving me 200mb Read and 80mb write .....

Under IDE in my P55 UD3R it was getting 175/110.


How do i ever get full speed out of it, i have it plugged into the 6gbps port.

Any help would be very mych appriciated .

There is no help, it is a self-defending mechanism of the drive against benchmark tools. See the 2nd Q/A.

It's apparently a very bad thing to do, running benchmarks on SSDs.

What kind of format did you do?

Sounds like by formatting it then running a benchmark you've triggered Duraclass which has throttled the performance until the drive can recover.

Yeah is an intresting article, it is as quick as hell anyway i guess i shouldnt worry too much. Just managed a 4.7 OC on my 2500k so i should be well happy about that L)

My gut feeling is that the major problem will be the first, but the others are there as they will make a difference.


Possible problem 1 - from what you've written, you've either -

(a) done a quick format which does nothing to alter any of the SSD's cells which contain data

(b) done a full format which makes every cell in the partitioned area dirty.

instead, you should have done a version of this method to wipe the drive, followed by a quick format.


Possible problem 2 - based on your board & lack of info -

You should have installed it onto one of the intel ports not the Marvell ones - the intel ones are faster.


Possible problem 3 - based on lack of info -

Having installed it onto an intel port (whether you've actually done so already or not), you want to be using the intel RST driver instead of the default MS ones - again these are faster.



Oh, & the other advice about not running all the b/ms in the world is very good advice...
