NHS ignorance
I'm simply placing this hear for you all to see.
I met this guy a few times through friends and as the article says he was a great person and NHS ignorance seems to be to blame for what happened. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/ar...ed-junkie.html

I would just point out that 1. the family hadn't even contacted the trust to complain before rushing to a lawyer and the Mail. and 2.Swine flu really isn't that fatal for the vast majority even without any drugs, you still feel like **** though. so medics are unlikely to prioritize swine flu in a other wise healthy person. 3.after first calling NHS direct and being told to go see a doctor, probably a GP who would have had tamiflu, they instead left it a day and ran to a city center A&E. 4. as per usual the mail haven't really tried to get a response form the hospital, so the article is quite 1 sided. Yes mistakes were probably made, but I'm not rushing to hang the NHS till all sides of what happened are in.

All tabloids lie.
As an NHS professional I've heard of a few cases not entirely unlike this before, and have spoken to staff involved who I know for a fact are neither liars nor prejudiced nor ignorant. I am always struck by how the actual facts of such cases never quite correspond with how the tabloids present them. This is not to say that the NHS doesn't get it wrong sometimes; yes, occasionally overstretched staff are subject to the same presumptions and mistakes as other human beings. But I wouldn't be at all surprised if the story is not nearly as it is made out to be. I mean, this is the Daily Mail, FFS. So if you don't mind, closing now.
