New monitor, slowly developing dull pixels.

I picked up a BenQ G2420HDBL LED back lit monitor a couple of months ago.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...id=510&subcat=

Great screen for gaming, very vivid and a decent upgrade from the old 22" lcd I had come from.

I like everyone else am very iffy with any sort of defect, and initially it had nill dead pixels.

However last night while running through GTA 4 again I noticed a pixel which when black has fairly bad light bleed around it, very noticeable and its central left of the screen. A few weeks before this a pixel has gone dull in the top right corner. Im resigned to more going.

Im a bit stumped now, I collected it from ocuk and they surely wont help me out.

Am I resigned to ebaying it and taking a fairly big loss?

Help

It's not a case of the supplier "not helping you out" but accepting their responsibilities under consumer law.
Any fault which develops within the first six months after purchase is deemed to have been present at purchase and it is up to the seller ie ocuk to prove otherwise.
Take it back and see if ocuk will replace it with a bit of friendly negotiation.

If they won't play make it clear to them that the defect is unacceptable and REJECT it under the Sale of Goods Act.

I think glendronach is right about 6 months, no real experience here. However, you may have to wait for it to get worse first as there is an "acceptable" for level (for manufacturers) of dead/stuck pixels in a monitor. I think its probably 4/5 is acceptable (from an iso standard I could find though it does not list many resolutions so some guess work) and over 6/7 it should be replaceable.

Give BenQ a call.

They'll send a courier over to swap it out under the 3 year warranty

All this hassle.

Should have kept the ex's cinema display that was epic

The thing is the pixels are fine except for bleed behind them when black, just so happens when its black its every bloody obvious. So they are not technically dead as such. Dont know how that would effect things return wise.

Id rather not deal with ocuk at all they just wind me up.

sounds like stuck pixels. try running it for a bit face down on some carpet playing one of those color strobe videos in a loop. i've been able to unstick pixels with a good level of success with that technique.

After playing a dark game like metro this is very annoying.

Raised a rma with Benq.

As my first Benq screen it will be interesting to see what happens.

Just recieved a very blunt email stating they need 5 or more dead pixels to rma the screen.

Will not go anywhere near a Benq monitor again

That is the industry standard for class 2 screens I believe

I had the same problem with a Dell 2209wa

It had a warranty that covered for any pixel defect but they only sent out refurbs. I got 5 different screens sent to me and they all had pixel faults.

Basically I don't know who to buy from. Viewsonic do a 0 pixel defect warranty on their premium panels but whether they honour it or not is another matter.

I am in the same situation.

I know what I want and it is a decent screen with no pixels.

But I see many threads on here that state even companies such as dell who have a warranty in place to cover dead pixels the replacement screens are rarely clear of defects as they are just refurbs.

Frustrating to say the least.
