For the games section could you maybe have a list of all the popular games, and say what score you gave it, what popular mods there are for it.You could also say which issue it was reviewed and put in a url which takes you to the bit-tech review (incase of new readers). Also put more urls which links you to a how to guide to implement the popular mods for the game. A bit like the hard ware elite section.

I'm liking these new ideas for the mag. Not that I think there was anything wrong with the old one, and I'd like to thank James et al for making it such a great read.

I hope to see a new benchmark and leader board like there was on the original website.

As a reader since Issue 1, I am pleased at this news as I was finding that I was 'skimming' through it in less and less time which is disappointing. Please retain the Christmas Mince Pie annual review as I depend on it for Winter solace!

Wonderful. I'll buy that one and consider whether it's worth re-subbing.

I was about to stop my subscription, I have PC PRO, Custom PC(both subs) and micro mart from the shop which I used to subscribe to then I switched to CPC. I was going to subscribe back to MM. Magazines are coming through the ceiling in our house the wifes going mad, I'm going to try the new format out and just buy the MM monthly specials.
For a time I was getting PCW and micro mart, and switched to PC PRO which I enjoy reading and would not stop. I enjoy CustomPC for the modding and if they start doing some of the features like retro that would make CPC a winner over MM, even though I like the penguin. |

I've seen this before in PC Magazines where a revamp was actually a last ditch effort to survive.
I hope two or three issues down the line we don't see the end of CPC.

This is the bit i'm looking forward too most as well, apart of course from Custom Kit - I hear the guy writing it now is particularly good looking.

Felling better about the changes now, I've been a reader since issue 1 when we got our sample at Multiplay i17
DGood to see Ben at the helm, the changes sound positive, especially the science bit. Consider my subscription safe

After reading through the latest issue... i have to say i'm not as enthusiastic about the new changes.
More specifically the areas you talked about shrinking. Whilst i agree that some people dislike the fact that reviews can be found anywhere now, i generally value the opinion of CustomPC and like using it as another point of reference when comparing what products to buy. Also with news, i have to say that i'd like to think i keep up with most of the news posted at bit-tech, but i had no idea about any of the 3 news posts in this issue. However i do agree that due to the publishing cycle, it's probably the section that should be reduced first. Lastly, i'm personally not a fan of the idea of multiple writers and editorials since it just sounds like now i'm just going to open the magazine to find what amounts to a compilation of blog posts. I personally buy CustomPC for the reviews and the Labs Tests (thank god those aren't going) and whilst i enjoy the Editor's column, Clive's and Joe's column and originally, Jame's old column on the back page; they've always been nice little extras, an added opinion on top of the magazine and not necessarily quite a chunk of the magazine. However as stated, this is just my opinion and i'll definitely check out the magazine next month to see whether or not i'll want to buy it. All that said, it seems like quite a few people like the way the magazine is going and i wish you all the luck for the future. |

Popped into Dennis today, and found an early copy of issue 103 just back from the printers. Many congratulations, Ben. Excellent work, sir.

I cancelled my subscription to the mag some months ago but was paid up until the most recent.
Separating bit and cpc reviews and doing away with the 'latest' news section get big thumbs up. Retro hardware sounds awesome. Looking forward to it, hope I am inspired to go straight back to subscribing

I'm a long(ish) time subscriber to CPC, another monthly and a bi-weekly magazine. I love reading a physical mag, I find reading articles online a pain, waiting for the page to load because someone's flashing advert hasn't loaded/rendered properly. I like to read mine while having my breakfast, and when I don't have a magazine I am lost! I actually look forward to them dropping through the letter box every month, it's a minor highlight. Yes, sad, I know. I will admit, sometimes the reviews are a couple of months out of date by the time I get to read them, but that's not the point. I rarely tend to buy a game at time of release anyway, so I don't feel I'm missing out. As for hardware, I do shop around online before buying, and search for reviews from a number of well respected sites. But it's still nice to read a review in the magazine. I'm looking forward to receiving the next issue as I'm currently having to read a joke book until it arrives!
As an aside, one thing that really annoys me, and other subscribers, is the offer of free gifts to new subscribers. How about something for the 'old guard'? Maybe subscribers can earn points that accumulate towards a goal? A freebie of some sort? A small gift, a free month, etc? Obviously I've no idea of the logistics of this, but it's something I feel is lacking. Otherwise, I would consider cancelling on the 12th month, and resubscribe a month later!

![]() Last month, I went almost a week without my mag. My wife heard me cursing about crap postal service and asked me what was wrong. I explained my mag was nearly a week overdue, and she went "oh, forgot about that, it came on Monday and I stuck it in the filing cabinet when I was tidying up". ![]() That will NOT be happening this time.
