Windows freezes after 5 seconds

Hey all

Im having some problems with my main system. Windows 7 seems to stop working 5 seconds after it has loaded onto the desktop.
I thought it might be down the the ram as I had been playing with the overclock yesterday but I've since changed the ram to mushkin 4gb and it still does exactly the same.

I've booted into safe mode and it works fine so while I was there I decided to backup anything I might want to keep.

I have sort off run out of ideas and thinking a new install of windows might fix it. Unless its a hardware issue.
Could the motherboard be messed up?

Any help please guys

What do you mean by it stops, is it a BSOD? 'cause that'll point to the OC.

Have you tried disabling aero? I had a similar issue that turned out to be my psu, which once the gpu was pulling a decent amount it just froze the whole system.

changing the psu sorted it

Is your system overclocked now? If so, restore everything to default. Start with that.
Also check your temperatures, if you can open a program quick enough.

The clocks were default and It wouldn't open any programs in time.

I just reinstalled windows and all seems ok now on the mushkin ram.
