Help with Google Apps Domain

Hey guys, hopefully someone here can help me. I'm using the Google Apps for Business free tier to manage the website and mail for a Young Enterprise project, but I'm having a bit of trouble with my DNS settings and domains. The company is called Pearllery - don't ask - so that's why I mention that so often below

Background:
Currently we have 8 users with @pearllery.com email addresses (through GMail). As part of the Google Apps sign up, I bought www.pearllery.com through the Apps service, which currently points to a Google Sites website (this Sites website has a piece of HTML on the front page to redirect to our new page - http://pearllery.wordpress.com. Google Apps lets me access the advanced DNS c0ontrol panel, which for me is provided by GoDaddy.

Problem:
I want to forward www.pearllery.com to go to pearllery.wordpress.com, but I can't work out how to do that. I DO NOT want to map it to the Wordpress domain, a)Because it's paid and I'm on a strictly limited budget and b)I don't want to muck up the email accounts. In the GoDaddy control panel, a forward is set up but it doesn't work. Last time I mucked about with the CNAMES and such, going to pearllery.com just showed a 404 page from Google.

Question:
Can someone please help me to forward the website address to the wordpress site, while keeping the mail addresses intact? I hope this all makes sense. Ask for any details or to clear stuff up, I really need help with this one.

when i set my site up to begin with, godaddy provided an instant page (basic site) when i bought hosting i had to change the A record to point to the hosting address.

Not sure if this helps in your scenario but its what i had to do.

Thanks for the reply, but if I change the A-Record will that not break the email addresses? Remember I only want to forward the domain, not map it. Is that what changing the A Record would do?

Chaning the A record will not break your emails.
Emails work on a MX record.

Change the WWW A record to the wordpress.

As has been said, change the A (and AAAA) record to point to wordpress (cname iirc)
leave the MX record as is..

found the email i had from go daddy support regarding this thought it might help you.
To Modify an A Record

1. Log in to your Account Manager.
2. In the My Products section, click Domain Manager. The Domains page displays.
3. Do one of the following:
* From the Tools menu, select DNS Manager, and then click Edit Zone for the domain name you want to update.
* Click the domain name you want to update and, in the DNS Manager section, click Launch.

4. In the A (Host) section, click the A record you want to edit.
5. Edit any of the following fields:

* Host — Enter the host name the A record links to. Type @ to map the record directly to your domain name, including the www.
* Points to — Enter the IP address your domain name uses for this host record.
* TTL — Select how long the server should cache the information.

6. Click Save Zone File, and then click OK.

Please allow up to 48 hours for this DNS change to fully propagate

Okay, so I found out how to change the A record, thanks for all the replies guys! But, what do I change it to? I don't know how to get the IP address of my Wordpress.com site.

EDIT: I don't think I can get the IP of my Wordpress site. This is a lot more difficult than I thought it would be. Any suggestions?

I've set up a free Wordpress.com blog. The domain name was purchased through Google Apps for Business and I have access to domain settings through a GoDaddy control panel.

I'll try this, thanks.

EDIT: There was already a CNAME for www pointing to ghs.google.com.

I changed this to pearllery.wordpress.com
