How to compress an AVI?
So, a Google or Youtube search brings up things that are 3 or 4 years old.

I have virtual dub (Thanks to Gunsmith), but to be honest can't figure out how to use it!

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Freemake video converter, handbrake, adobe premiere, tmpgenc, mediaespresso there are a lot of good ones out there, i thought vdub was relatively defunct, can't say I've used it since nandub days

you could use divx (converter available for free on their site) or h.264 encoder (http://www.h264encoder.com/ also free)

I'm presuming this is to reduce the size on a FRAPs recording or something?

I use VideoLAN's built in converter... It's nice and quick.
