F@H v7 client ubuntu 12.04
Juat insalled this to replace v6.x client. Running good, but is there any way to set it up via the cli?
I have no monitor attached to the box, so it wont run X. Would like to let HFM have access to it from another machine. Cheers

Hi Scorpuk
As I understand it the V7 client runs as a service in the background and FAHcontrol is an app that you can run when you want to change something. You can monitor V7 clients in HFM if you install the latest version of HFM. If you have V7 running on multiple machines you can configure them so that you can control all the clients from FAHcontrol on one machine, it even adds up the total PPD. You don`t need to remotely access headless boxes anymore, you can run everything from a single GUI on one machine. This is a giant leap forward for folding. If you want help with this let me know and I will try to remember how it`s done. It took me a while to find good instructions on the web.

Cheers Slowlemon.
My server is currently trying to add my Q6600 to its FAHControl, but just sits there saying "Connecting". Do I not need to set something up in the "Remote Access" tab on the Q6600, if I could run FAHControl there? IP address range or a password? I know the v7 client is running as I checked with Code:

Can't you run VNC on your Linux? You don't even need a video card to do it.

Remote Control
Hi All
To link up your V7 clients first you need to find out the IP addresses of your folding machines and write them down. You need to give each computer a name and come up with a password. Apparently the password is not encrypted so don`t use the same one you have for Paypal, Facebook etc ![]() Now open FAHcontrol on the remote machine, select expert mode and click configure. Select the remote access tab, scroll down to the password section and enter your password in both boxes. Now scroll down to "IP address restriction" and in the "allow" box enter the IP address of the machine you want to monitor from, or a range of IP addresses that represents your home network. Do not change the "Deny" box, now click save and close FAHcontrol. Go to the machine you want to monitor from and open FAHcontrol, Select expert mode. The left hand pane is labeled "Clients" at the bottom click "Add", enter the name of the computer you want to add, its IP address and the password. Now click save, it may take a few minutes to update but once it has you should have full control of the remote client from the GUI on your local desktop. As I understand it you can add any number of clients to one FAHcontrol and any number of FAHcontrols to one client, so you could control any client from any machine. This works over a home network, but in theory it could work over the internet from anywhere in the world. However you may need to deal with issues like firewalls and dynamic IP addresses. Have fun.

Dragged out and dragged back in again.
Now running with v7 client giving access to local network for reporting and a gui, unless I get a power outtage. ![]() Tried a little overclocking and only managed to get it up to 2.7GHz.
