Scorpio-completed
Welcome to my new project log!

Intro:

A month ago I decided to make unique case,made out of plexiglass.
It had to be simple,but agressive,and I came up with this:

























I contacted my friend Sandro from MG Vrbanus and he loved that concept so we arranged making of prototype made of plywood. Of course,final case will be made out of plexiglass.



I would like to thank to In Win for sposoring my case with their awesome PSU:

At the beginning we made some changes on parts for better structural integrity and nicer design. Central structure had to come in parts since CNC has too small working area. But,plexi central structure will come in one piece and multiple layers.










I started with gluing case feet and central structure:

Next thing to do was to assemble case feet and central structure-few smacks with hammer solved that. I also cut and mount metal bars.




























After bars were mounted,I monted PSU holder:

Then I grabbed saw again and cut bars for mounting sidepanels:










With sidepanel mounted,case was ready for some posing:



















Now was time to mount MBO tray and some hardware for mockup.

Although finished, I came up with another idea-to rotate MBo tray for 90 deegres and fit ATX MBo insted of mATX. We needed some cover for MBo and card I/O to hide cables.
I wanted from that cover to follow the theme. First I has some try-outs:













I replaced screw-nut with closed ones,made out of brass:

I got my hands on some old but unused WC equipment-Aquacomputer Cuplex EVO block and Aquatube reservoir. I removed protection from block but it is stained from glue so it wil need some polishing. I don't have lga 1155 mounting kit for that block,buT I have spare H50/h70 mounting kit so I will mount it with that.
















I cant wait to see that equipment on plexi version of case. I hope it will be nice.

Since Cuplex Evo originally only supports socket 370 and 478 it had to be updated to support lga 1155. I don't have money to buy new mounts from Aquacomputer so I had to make my own.

Fortunately for me, part of my unfinished waterblock had hole of same size as plexi on Cupex Evo and with addition of H70 backplate,my Cuplex Evo now supports Lga 775,1156,1155 and 1366. I am not 100 % sure if it would fit on Lga 2011,but I don't need it so that is ok.

Here are pics of placing part to Cuplex Evo:





















It looks good and sharp with that plexi mounting-I even put some black carbon foil on that alu ring on top of block and top of mounting part and add some blue Leds in four holes in mounting part. What do you think?

Ok,time for one of last updates of prototype. But first,let me show what I have done with wc gear for final case.

I polished and and put carbon foil on cpu block-it looks way better now(at least I think). Some pict of my cehap dremel and accesories. It is 5 years old,but still working.

And update of prototype itself.
I finally added front panel and power buttons to the case. There are 4 pieces of tranparent plexi and two black ones that I covered with carbon foil.
I still have to solder some cables there,but now it is clear how it will ook once it is finished.







There is also HDD mount made out of plexi-very usefull if user of case don't want to use wc gear. It is possible to mount up to 6 HDD's in that way.

I had seen your log a while back but totally forgot to comment

I really like the design and the execution has been excellent!! that CPU block is also very different, have not seen one of those before, very intriguing.. looking forward to this coming together!

Thank you,I am glad that you like it. As fot the CPU block-that model is 10 years old,but I menaged to get unused one. Little modification and it is updated.

Small update is coming in next hours.
