So... it's point-cloud reconstruction combined with structure from motion (i.e. you don't need to input the movement track, it infers it from the input)? Nice, but not particularly revolutionary, e.g. this Kinect based SLAM project. Nice of them to include it in their SDK to make integration easier though.

I can see this being used as a "home" 3D scanner portion of a 3D printer job.

Which is pretty cool.

It would be really useful if you could import the data to 3d programs for use in game mods etc. It would make creating the base models much easier as you can scan a model e.g. chair and then work from there.
