Are you going to try them on air before switching to water ? just to see what the actual difference is ?

or .. are you just gonna put it together how it'll stay for at least a week first time ?

Nah, just build it all at once with the water blocks. Anyone with the same card on air can compare. I've had enough experience in watercooling to see great results with low temps.

Don't you submit overclocking benchmarks on hwbot? With all the hardware you buy, you could be quite competitive on there

I'm with you now. I did years ago. I will have to get back into it and post my benchmarks again.

Thanks for reminding me, I forgot all about it.

you would have SO many points purely because of the amount of hardware you get through.

Good stuff mate, I can't wait to get my 680's classy's. Shame I can only get 2 16's on my PCIe lanes or I might be tempted to get another one, but fear running 8\8\16 would bottleneck?

Thoughts?

Unfortunately with the 6XX series, watercooling doesn't get you anywhere near the sorts of gains it did with the 5XX series. Infact I couldn't achieve any higher overclock on my 680's when using water to that of the standard coolers.

That said, the temps are a bit lower and they're less noisy.

I guess its down to the quality of the chip.As these cards start to throttle at 70C,

Well the problem is that they're voltage locked, so they reach their mechanical limit way before they hit their thermal limit.

Wow didn't see that post, but this has me thinking that maybe in April I would be better upgrading from my 2700K to a 3930K instead of buying a Corsair Obsidian 900D and new watercooling kit.

I still cannot decide as I really want to see information Ivy Bridge E, especially if the rumours are true of a 10 to 15 core monster.

Yeah, I agree. But with 3 cards bucked tight together, the thermal limit would be easier to reach on default coolers. So this is where watercooling them will give them an advantage, and give a higher OC.

If your running multiple cards, then yes it's worth it, if not, then the Z77 is more than capable.

I should have got another HD7970 for Tri Fire to compare with STU@MSD, as I'm sure his board is really limiting him.

I would rather have 6 faster cores, then running 10 - 15 cores, as nothing will utilize that for a few years to come.

Sold it due to changing my job and being home everyday day and weekends off. So wanted to go back to a full Desktop so I can spend crazy amounts of money on it.

£2250 is what I got for the Alieneware M18X R2.
