Welcome to my second worklog here of my new project Odyssey!

This is a very special build to me, as I participate as a beta tester on the HEX-GEAR R40. The case has very good quality and unique design. I'm so excited to get my hands on it!
Hans Peder Sahl “p0Pe” & Nate George “E22″ has made this incredible case and I thank them for this opportunity. :D

Check out the website they made! http://www.hex-gear.com/

The case (original in white) will have a white outside and dark inside, with light blue accent pack for the hexagons. The hardware and watercooling will feature black, chromed and crystal blue.

Hardware: (as far as I know)

    CPU: Intel i7 5820k
MOBO: GIGABYTE X99M Gaming 5 mATX
    GPU: GIGABYTE GTX 970 G1 Gaming 4GB
    RAM: Kingston 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 3000MHz CL15 XMP Predator
    PSU: (to be decided)
    SSD: (to be decided)

Watercooling: (as far as I know)

    MIPS IceForce HF
    Bitspower Water Tank Multi-Z 250
    Primochill Revolver Fittings
Alphacool VPP655 with EK D5 X-top Clear Acrylic

    Thank you!

I'd say assembling this case was lots of fun!

    There we have it!

Radiator and fan mounting, 360 in the top and 240 in the bottom. The best part with this case is that you can switch around the panels and make it how you like it. There is also possibilities to go with rATX if you want. :)

    Great! :thumb:

The designers chose 5 beta testers for this project, but there wont be long until you can buy it :)
There will be some kind of extras you can get on the website to make it inverted atx :)

There's definitely something cool about 'building' your PC case as well as your system - fond memories of Parvum and Mountain mods and hopefully Hex Gear soon too! Looking forward to getting my mitts on an R40 for review :)

    Thanks :)

I agree with you! Especially when you can chose how to plan the case. :thumb:

    Hi everyone!

I hope you all had a great holiday and a happy new years eve. Since everyone has been taking some break from work Ive been waiting most of the time for parts to arrive. Now everyone is back at work, and me back at school but atleast I can start building soon!

I figured out I would to something with the case today so I spray painted to motherboard tray and sanded the attached panel to it. I think there will be a good contrast with the black tray. I chose to go with glossy black to fit the finish of the white powder coat.

The black plexi panels are soon going to be replaced by frosted light blue instead :) Cant wait for that to arrive!

The small panel needs some more sanding, I just removed the coat to get a small overview of it.

I still haven't decided if I should put the PSU in the top or not. Hmm..

Will do another update soon, I heard that my radiators are arriving tomorrow! :)

It is a tough decision on the PSU I went for the top way myself but it was not without a day or so deciding :)

Yeah think ill have to try it out with the hardware and see whats the best. Also with the pump and radiators to make it look good and effective :) I think yours fitted well in the top!

Yes I thought the top was best just with the whole lay out going inverted, looking forward to seeing this unfold :)

    Thanks

Ive been thinking and the top will suit me as well, with standard matx layout :)

Im glad you like it snef :)

Update, I thought I was going to upload some photos last week but some of the stuff didnt arrive in time. New radiators and a motherboard i picked up today!

Radiators: EK PE 360 and 240
    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X99M-Gaming 3

I thank Gigabyte so much for this motherboard, great mATX board for X99. With this one I will use an i7 5820k. :D

I also think i should go with this PSU, Fractal Design Newton 1000w because the matte-finish together with the radiators couldnt have been better :)

    The motherboard!

Quick view with the MIPS Iceforce :) Thats all for today.

My next goal is to work with the motherboard. The red color doesnt match my color scheme, so it will be silver instead. The red details are made out of metal, so it shouldnt be that hard. :thumb:
