This afternoon I had the pleasure of my mum walking into my room for the brief time it takes to give me a lovely box of Highland Fudge that she recently bought in Scotland. I thought I would share this moment with you by bringing you DeX's Fudge Review. The box as you can see comes very well presented with Royal Stewart Tartan covering most of the exterior. Also note the cellophane wrap, ensuring freshness and quality. On the reverse side there is a nice lot of interesting information about Highland Fudge and the Tartan in general. In the bottom left corer (too blurred to be seen) is marked 'Made in Scotland' assuring us again that this product is genuine. The ingredients are (in decreasing proportion): Sugar, Glucose Syrup, Full Cream Sweetened Condensed Milk, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Butteroil, Salt, Emulsifier (Lecithin), Flavouring. If you have any adverse effects upon the consumption of any of these ingredients I strongly recommend you do not try this product. The cellophane was opened easily with my trusty penknife and upon opening the box nearly overflowed with fudge. It might be possible to include a few more fudges in the box but in my opinion there is a fair quantity of fudge there. I was given the normal flavour of fudge but there are other flavours available, for example Whiskey flavour . Each fudge is individually wrapped. This is good in that they don't all stick together in one big lump but means you'll probably be left with lots of plastic wrappers all over your desk. Ok now for the ultimate test - the taste test..... Ugh! All I can say is that something went wrong. As fudge taste goes they aren't bad but the texture is all wrong. You expect fudge to crumble in your mouth giving you a high dose of fudge goodness but with McCowan's you can't help but chew them into a liquidy paste. It may be that the reviewing temperatures are a little above normal (currently 24o) but I still would have expected higher quality. I will express my final verdict as a smilie: I'll leave you with a classy shot of the not so classy fudge:
If you want the most addictive and nice fudge you have to go south to Devon where they mix it with clotted cream..
or just go to shop buy fudge the one in the purple wrapper marked fudge still quality one question how long do they last under load (several people eating em)
The box could do with a bit of modding too. A few bloo LED's ould light it up nicely. And to eater of pies, to make the fudge last longer under load -a better cooling solution would be required to bring the operating temperature of the fudge right down(sub zero). I suggest a peltier with a decent water cooling rig.
actually I placed the box in the fridge last night and tried them again this morning. It certainly solves the problem of them all mushing into paste in your mouth but I forgot to say that another problem with these is that they leave you with the feeling that you have the plastic wrapper stuck to the top of your mouth. The after taste is all plasticy and no amount of cooling get's rid of it .
lol, yes rob not nice, but funny.. I think that is my best review ever...Really... It looks real nice...I love toffee like that... lol yer that will work hehe thats funny.. Sorry to quote these ones out they are funny.. Save some toffee for me.. Send me some tho the post
This one's still got the cobwebs on it! What's so about fudge anyway? Don't tell me you don't get it in Belgium...
You're seriously deprived if you've never had fudge. You might have chocolate and all but nothing compares to (decent) fudge.
