100 Mbitps network cards = 12.5 Mbyteps

therefore your only loosing 7.5 somewhere .... maybe u have collisions or its a bit buggered :P

edit * Oh your using a switch so therefore there shouldn't be any collisions .... maybe its a crap switch :P

those ' internet boost ' packages you can download alter the way packets are sent and received, myb you could look into something like that to optomize your LAN - just a thought ?

Hello there

100mbit is the maximum theorectical throughput.

there are so so many things that reduce it.

1. The network interface card.
2. The quality of the cable (not very much unless it's a well dodgy cable)
3. The hard disk / data source you're transfering from
3.1 The one you're transfering to.
4. collisons, if you're not switched.
5. the protocol - windows file sharing (netbios) is inherently slow, use FTP for best results.

I've never had a throughput higher than 8MBps (64Mbps) and that was a surprise, it doesn't usually go above 3.5MBps (28Mbps)

always using full switched network.
