It's a 686-233 @ 208MHz, 128MB RAM and 3.2GB HDD Pics aren't in any particular order, sorry. I have heaps more pics, but I'm on a public computer with disabled clipboard and no FTP access I'll post more when I get home tonight! Unfortunately the HDD in these pics died last week and I had to add an unpainted 4.3GB to get the system running again. The painted drive is still in the case as a decoration
you can do that w/o destroying the computer?? Any overheating issues?!? wow, and I thought the submerged oil computer was wierd
That realy looks amazing. I might have to try that on my PIII. Just one question though, how did you avoid covering up any of the pins in the various connectors?
It was just an experiment I was surprised it still works, but it has no problems at all (except the HDD) The paint is thin, so the heat shouldn't have too much trouble escaping. I masked the connectors first Then I primered it to make sure the metallic paint wouldn't cause problems (it doesn't conduct anyway as I think the shiny bits are plastic rather than metal) All done. Just one coat, I didn't want to clog anything up I waited a while for it to dry and then peeled the tape off, put the bits back on/in and connected it up for a test The only connector problems I had were the jumper and head connector on the HDD. Should have left the jumper on Not a lot I could do about the head connector though Too bad it eventually killed the drive Yes, but that would make it awkward to paint between the slots. It was hard enough to get even coverage just with the height of the slots themselves
i wonder if i should try that on my graphics card. (radeon 9800 pro). Hopefully i wont screw it up if i have the guts to even attempt to do it
10/10 on the coolness and originality scoreboard. But I notice you didn't try it out on 3.2ghz system
******* ****** ****!!!! I had this all typed out and IE crashed and cleared my clipboard! Thanks everyone! Just a few more pics... The reset switch got scratched up a bit I'll be getting a yellow FDD cable ASAP, and I'm looking for some rope to sleeve the cables with. The local Bunnings only has one size and their stock is so old it's faded :/ I'm planning to paint the keyboard and monitor too. Hopefully they should be done in the next week or so. Also I'll post more pics of the blue mouse once it's done.
nice! it should work on something slower like a P2 anyday, provided that the coat of paint is thin i like to color combo, can't get enough of that yellooooo!!!!!!!1
