Hello all, just got hold of some 7.6inch (19,6cm diagonal) color (640X480@256colors) LCD, it reacts to touch, and I was thinking......how the hell can I attache it to my pc? Cheers, Mike P.S. If I manage to attache it, would anyone be interesed in it? MODS: sorry if this goes against forum rules, edit if nescessery
I suppose the first thing you've got to find out is the pin-out of the lcd. Might take a little experimenting!
Damn Why aint there a easy way out Ohhh well.....I won't have the case I wan't if I don't move my brain Cheers, Mike P.S. Any online store in the UK that sells LCD's and cabels for 'em?
Bump this C'mon peeps, if I get this thing to work, it will be the Creme de la creme of my modded case It has a MOTOROLA XPC823ZT66A procesor in it So, I will try to provide all the info you need, just say what info you need...please help me! ..... Cheers, Mike EDIT: A few more pics
Hmmm what was this LCD for, before u got it? Try to find the pin-out on internet, if your lucky it works on a simple rgb signal. then u can wire it up, using the rgb from an old graphics card. I think there was a thread about this here If it use's some special thingy... then I would forgetting about it. If it wasn't controlled by a 'normal' computer, then there is a good chance it use's a custom connector/way of connecting, aswell... for the touch screen, I believe this has been done, here, somewhere... :s If not here, search on the internet. If it works on a simpley xy coördinate system, then there are probably diagrams on internet, to connect it to the mouse ps2, or serial port. Good Luck, let us know if you get it working. If it works on win XP, .. I would be willing to take it of your hands! (If it dosn't, u can still send it to me ) L
It was taken out of a Alcatel WebTouch One Web Phone... Will search on the net, hope I can wire this baby up though, it would look great! Cheers, Mike P.S. Help the n00b, what should I search for exactly
out of one of these ?? this aint going to be easy... I don't know what to look for, I'm not the expert on these things, just thought about it alot.. but they key is always the pin-up.. (pin up, is a diagram, of what each 'pin' of the connector stands for.. if its old, it could possible have the stuff 'R+' G+ B+ ... then u can wire that up to a old graphics card, that has a simple rgb output...) As for the touch screen of it ; look up stuff about touch screens, see if you have the same connector, and look how they wire it up.. A touch screen, is basically the same as a tablet ... except that its transparant good luck I can't help you more then this.. read the sticky on lcd's.. and ask 'da meister' how he wire's up his touch screen, in his M3 car modding project. L
Yep, that's the phone, got about 20more of these screens in the warehouse Cheers for youre help Cheers, Mike P.S. Will get some more info in a few days, I left my screen at the ware house
Interesting stuff, if you could send me some, i know 2 LCD masters that might know how to deal with these things. Seriously.
You meen the spec sheet? If you help me, I will build a temple in you're honor, and feature you on my "Great thank you to..." list, (those that helped me with my first case mod) Cheers, Mike
Well judging by the official site it probably has an embedded JAVA OS that controls it all. Does it have an FCC ID sticker on the phone's bottom ?
Thanks Kill Me Quick, it's a better version than the one I have. C'MON PEEP'S! ME WANT'S THIS LCD TO WORK! Cheers, Mike
its ok, i found it on some site yesterday and thy would only email it, took them over a day! I dont have a clue about it though. sorry
Okay, time to upset y'all The MOTOROLA XPC823ZT66A is the main CPU, its a CISC from the MPC823 range, which run at 60-85mhz. This chip has the LCD controller built in. Question, EEPROM or ROM? Socket or surface mount ?
well, put it this way, if i owned the module i would be more excited about the controller + perphirals than the screen. The controller for the LCD is integrated with the micro. This means the only way you can use the controller matched for that LCD is with teh micro. The micro is incredibly well documented, and there is source code for even the most complex of things (USB, TCP/IP Stack with BSD style sockets). Nice. The micro was top of the line 4 years ago. It was realy fly! What i would do to get the screen of use is to change the firmware, however socketed EEPROM / ISP is needed, enless you like soldering. These CISCs are fairly straight forward to develope for (so i've been told, i'm a RISC man myself).
Damn...my marsian to english translator is still broken..... To answer youre question, I'm not fond of soldering, but if there won't be anyother way, I'll do it. Are there and sockets or something that does'nt need soldering? Cheers, Mike P.S. Would you be interested in one of these screens?
