Hello, I'm new here. This ist the worklog of my HTPC and as you know, a picture says more than a thousand words. The specs: Via Epia PD1000 512MB RAM 40GB Samsung 2,5" HDD Teac slimline DVD-ROM 80Watt fanless power-supply And here are he pics . The first drawing, with dimensions in mm. 3D-rendering of Epiae, made with the Doom3 mapeditor Size comparison with an old CD-ROM. Mainboard and I/O-shield mounted. The slimline DVD-ROM drive bay. After reconsidering the design I came out with this. Test fit. The only fan in the whole case. Front From an other direction. The top. DVD-ROM open. Inside. This is the progress so far, comments appreciated.
Nice! The more HTPC's I see, the more I really want to build one (not cos I need one, just cos I want one!) I like the white and silver, it's a nice change from all-black. Which VIA mobo are you running, and how much did all of the electronic components cost?
very cool.. but were did u put the power supply i dont see it in the pics and wat type of power supply did u use?
Very nice! Im about to start on a similar sized system but in all aluminium sheeting instead of acrylic. Did you cut out the plates on the top of yours by yourself or did you get them laser cut?
Very nice indeed! I love it so far! I wouldn't mind a more detailed worklog though, since it's a very interesting project. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for the compliments. @Feline Via EPIA PD1000 mainboard and I spent about 330$ for the hardware. I bought the DVD-ROM and the HDD from a friend who upgraded his notebook. @ev0lution The engraving is milled, the holes are drilled (15mm for the plates and 9mm for the acrylic). @iceman3083 It is a 80Watt Morex fanless powersupply, the DC converter board is the blue thing behind the front and the 80watt AC to DC Adapter is external. What a beauty Did you do the recessed circles yourself with some crazy tool you own or did you have it done in a metalwork shop?
very vey nice!!! I want one! More Progress = Totaly awesome! Cant wait to see the outcome!!! -subscribed
Nice work man, but, two questions : - why didn't you make the front aluminium sheet a bit longer to be centered on the case and to fit (in width) with the two other sheets on the top ? It could have been a little bit better ! - what is the rad over the CPU ? Is it an "Epia Special" or a modified one ? Keep on the good work
@Le Tordu To leave some room for the powerswitch and leds. It is the standard heatsink that comes with the epia Board. I just removed the fan, because it was too noisy (6000rpm ). @ReFredzRate Plexi Here is a schematic of the "cooling-system", it is working surprisingly well, you can feel the air coming out of the ventilation holes and all the components are running really cool .
That looks awesome!!!11 It's really cool that you've made the ventilation holes a feature of the project. Consider me subscribed...
