The price will be determined by laptop manufacturers, as it will not be an off the shelf purchase right now. There are many laptop manufacturers who have signed with NVIDIA to produce laptops based around the GeForce Go 6600 though.

There's a spelling error under the first table on the first page: "integrate a chi of their choicep, depending"

And the two images at the bottom, not sure about this but I would have thought one would show the add in card and the other would show the mobo integrated version?

Something missing from the following sentence (second page, towards the bottom):
".. - this is something that ATI's Mobility Radeon X700, coupled with PowerPlay 5.0." ..does?

The images that I took out in SJ were not brilliant, they're the best of a bad bunch - my chipshots of the integrated part were awful, however they do look the same as the NVIDIA shots of the two GPU configurations above. I didn't see a Go 6600 with integrated memory on a laptop mainboard, only the chip on its own, so NVIDIA's chipshot suffices there I think.

I'll admit I just skimmed the article but does anyone know if this card will be compatible with the apple powerbooks? I'm thinking about getting a 12" powebook that comes with a mobile 5200. This would be a HUGE upgrade in that department.

I doubt it for a while, graphics modules aren't going to be interchangable for a while yet - there are a lot of compatibility requirements with notebooks, more so than with a desktop PC. It's not quite as simple as unplug the old one and plug the new one in.

You would also have to be sure that the FX 5200 was based on MXM, which it can't be, because FX 5200 isn't a native PCI-Express SKU.

When I was discussing upgradability, I was referring to things that will happen in the future, a place of upgradable notebook harmony where both NVIDIA and ATI are aiming to get to as soon as possible.

Thanks for the quick reply. I had no idea that mobile graphics was not standardized. In any case, sounds like Apple won't be able to offer it any time soon so I'll have to get by with the 5200

Mobile graphics are trying to become standardised, but there is one hell of a lot of things to consider when you're trying to put a powerful video card inside a tiny laptop shell.
