DR_K13 has yet to learn the way of the Dremel
Project: Dur-Link

Now that My Sister's Computer is done, It is time to make to make one for My Dad. His
500 Mhz P3 can only do so much.

I ran into this case at Frys, It was an open box so I got it for $ 10.00.
The case is made by Linkworld ( ?? ?? ). It is quite an odd design. The side panels are only large enough to slip a Mobo into the case. There are small plastic covers in front of the others that cover the Cages,

This POS is going to be interesting and a challange to make look nice.

I am going for the industrial look. Lots of Metal . Stainless steel , Titanium look maybe?

I am still planning it out,

I picked up some mesh today.

and had some washerfill hoses around that I am going to use.

untill next time.

On the other side? Yes. It has little Plastic cover for the Drive Bays.

The good thing is that Once its done, My Dad wont be adding and Drives to it.

I was thinking of Mesh Suicide Doors to access The screw area.

i hope ur gonna keep the rippley bit on the front, i think that rocks. Extremely strange design tho. I can see how the little removable panels for the drive bays would be faster, but u still gotta take the side off the case to detach the cables , dunno what they were thinking there hehe. Good luck tho

Looking Good, DR K13! Howdy to a fellow [H]er!

I really like that mesh, it looks alot better than turning chickenwire diagonally (my cheap azz way)!

Good luck with that really odd and initially, rather ugly case!

I dont know, It looks kind of cool. But I was thinking of 1) cutting it out and putting Mesh in place. or 2) cutting a 80mm hole in it and adding a fan with a mesh grille . . That ripple thing is the only cool part of the case IMO

I agree its the best part of the case, it moulds around the power button etc perfectly. Nothing home-made would fit so well. u gotta keep it

Well, Its the 4th of July. All my Friends are out getting hammered. I dont Drink anymore so it gives me some time to work on the project. I stripped the Case down to the cage. And started cutting into the bezel. I put the Bezel down behind me and started to coat the case in paint stripper. I forgot where the Bezel was , stepped back and * SNAP!!! * stepped on the bezel and it broke into 3 bits  . I was so pissed that I drove up to compusa to look for another cheap case. I got there and remembered the guy that made the case called The " O " for his son. I remember him making an all mesh front bezel, and I decided to do the same. So i am not going to give up on this thing . I picked up a new HSF and Case fan while I was there .

By the time I got home the paint stripper evaporated, so I threw on a new coat.

Melt Damn it!

While I let that set in and Fry, I sleeved the HSF and the Case fan.

I got done with that and went outside to check on the the paint. I dryed so I started to scrape off the Crap. It only got about half the thickness off, so on goes another coat of paint stripper to let sit for an hour.

I grabbed the plastic side panels that cover the Drive screws and decided to cut them out and put mesh in the center.

Ye-Old Dremel will make short work of these.

This is what it will basically look like. I am not going to put the mesh in place untill I paint.

I am having a hard time finding a " Titanium " looking type paint. If you know of any, let me know Please!

I am done for now. I need to take some measurements and research the design of my new
front bezel.

See you soon.

I was thinking about that. I am sanding the case in one direction. maybe I will just clear coat it. I wonder how that would look?

Man, respect for not giving up when you snapped the bezel, i know i'd be pissed if it happened to me.

Still, every good modder knows it's 50% planning and 50% improvisation

agreed... i like where this looks to be heading, and like psynapse I know I'd've been pissed off if I snapped the bezel (although I'd probably end up frabricating it out of wood or plastic lol)
