looking to buy a 100mbps 8 port switch. I want to spend between £50 - £60. It will be used for lans mainly.

np...trust me the netgear is a good piece of kit u wont regret buying...at lans we used to run a 100mbit hub and wed get collisions if all 8 ports were used durin q3 or something and now with the switch theres no collision whatsoever...

I've had the FS105 (the 5 port version of the Netgear Switch) running for months and never had a single problem. The throughput with other netgear equipment is not bad at all...

agreed fly , the fs105 is blisteringly good for mini 5 person lans , no collisions and 200mbit on FDX
