What CPU For Compaq 775 Mobo (Currently Pemtium D 3.2GHz)
Hi,
I would like to upgrade the CPU and heatsink/fan in a socket 775 motherboard in a Compaq SR1937UK model PC, the current CPU is a Pentium D 3.2GHz. The motherboard looks to be 230mm x 230mm or thereabouts, what options have I got for upgrading the CPU/Heatsing/Fan. It is a tower case with 90cm case fan. Can I use any socket 775 CPU or am I restricted to specific types due to the proprietary compaq motherboard and voltage settings etc? Itchy |

Going by this the motherboard is an ECS RC410-M, which looks like it has standard 775 mounts. Because it's such an old motherboard and chipset you basically have the best processor you can get for it.

I think it is time for a replacement CPU/board etc as I would probably not be able to purchase a new CPU for it nowadays. I just ran a CPU-z check on it and it is a Pentium D Presler 940 CPU which is 6 years old. Itchy |
