doom3 doesn't support widescreen resolutions?!?

seta r_mode "-1"
seta r_customheight "<whatever>"
seta r_customwidth "<whatever>"

4:3
seta r_aspectRatio "0"

16:9
seta r_aspectRatio "1"

16:10
seta r_aspectRatio "2"

edit:

so if you throw this in your autoexec.cfg for that laptop it should work just fine

seta r_mode "-1"
seta r_customheight "900"
seta r_customwidth "1440"
seta r_aspectRatio "2"

I want this so bad. The funny thing is that it cost less then my desktop RIG and is alot better. LOL

I want it so bad. What I will also like to see is a good AMD Notebook with the 7800GTX because AMD and Nvidia go together when it comes to gaming. Its all about green power.

the specs seem to hve been downgraded - no 100GB HDD and now max res is 1600x1050

i wanted 1920 - it would be AWESOME for coding.

Personally, if I would have the money to buy such a laptop, I would very much like that fact that it isn't something like the Acer Ferraris or such.

I very much like the sleek and simple design!

Interesting article, very nice to see that "top of the line gaming performance" can be now be said without doubt in the same sentence with "laptop"!

amazingly this laptop isn't that pricy.. unlike the alienwares of this world a simlar 7800gtx based daesktop system without screen costs £1100 inclusing VAT so at £1400 it looks like very good value.

lol you're not wrong there
its still mind boggling to me that you can get 1920x1200 17" laptop screens but desktop tfts still only do 1280x1024, they've been stuck at that crappy res for years now, takes the piss

What a beast, but it seems to weigh a ton at nearly 4kg! But at last we can play DOOM 3 on high quality on the train!

Frankly, I'm surprised a 5400rpm drive has been enclosed in a gaming laptop

All Desktop Replacements weigh around 4KG Mr Wonka - some a fair bit more too! They simply become 'transportable' rather than intended for on-the-move work. Battery life is nearly always less than spectacular.

As for 5400 vs 7200, take a look at the drive-only prices for 7200rpm drives from your favourite retailer: 2.5" 7200rpm drives are HUGELY pricey, so it's reasonable to start with 5400 and offer 7200 as an option.

My HP came with a 7200 IBM drive which is on the way out. Speed vs capacity for the same money, it's being replaced with a 5400 Samsung.

I have a desktop replacement that only weights 2.8kg, so I still think 4kg is a tad bit heavy, but as this is the only desktop replacement I've ever had I guess I am a bit biased.

Although 7200rpm HDDs are pricy, I still think it should be the standard drive in this gaming machine as it is designed for gaming, and a bottleneck isn't good!

I'm currently using a Sony VGN-FS195XP. It's a Pentium M 740@1.73ghz, 1 gig ram, 15.4 WXGA but the main reason I bought it was because it has a 6200 turbo cache inside. It plays UT2004 and HL2 at a decent res, but I would really like a Go7800GTX
At the time there was only the Dell XPS lappy to choose from that would play games but was way to overpriced.
It's pretty mobile at 2.9kg's suppose another kilo won't make that much difference as it's only transported in the car.
It's a difficult decision as its only 6 months old.
Out of interest it cost approx £1300 what's a decent price to sell at?
Cheers
