Lost an GTX 1070 last night - seems the power circuitry has failed.
It has been Folding continuously for nearly 3 years, which fortunately means it is within the 3 year warranty period I have on the card

Gaming rig now has a Zotax Solid RTX 5090 OC and been folding on it to stress test it.

All ROP's and temps all good.

Dependant on what work unit I get the PPD ranges from circa 20m to 59m

OK, so our old fixed tariff ran out last month, just as I was getting into stride at >50 million PPD.

Just seen the new bill, over £700 a month at current usage

I was expecting it to be high as we're already a pretty high-usage household (was on about £280/month before, on a very favourable fixed rate), but that is crazy. Over half of the energy use in the house is folding.

I can't sustain this and look SWMBO in the eye, so, as I had kind of predicted, I'm going to have to...

Despite the fact that I could probably count active folders who are also active forumites on two hands, we're overdue a new one of these.

We still have a pretty potent little team despite lack of engagement by the contributors, and are looking at making up 4-5 places in rest of 2023, which is amazing frankly!

Back folding again so thought I'd sort out a theme, I was looking back for the FahMon template I made and came across this thread.

Unfortunately most of the original code (ZIP Download) has long gone but I was able to look at an old screenshot for reference. Turns out most of the Layout has changes a lot in the years since so none of the old CSS would of worked anyway!

What a great shame - it was the only PC mag I subscribed to and I have enjoyed reading it over the years. A sad loss.

New Open Beta v8 Folding Software

Just for information (for those who may not be aware), an open beta version of the new v8 Folding software has just been released; Official Open Beta Client Thread.

I expect it will be a little while before its fully fledged, and the bugs have been ironed out, but it is acccessible now to the community to try out.

For those who have struggled with setting up FAHControl on recent releases of Ubuntu - due to the Python 2 dependencies issue - there is now a simple solution in the Ubuntu Store which installs everything in one go

Sigh, I guess I'm not going to get a Zen 3 Threadripper now, so what do do with the mother board? I suppose a cheap Zen 2 32 core will have to do. Any other ideas?

It's for folding. I regularly get work units that take 1.5 day on my 16-core system, so I'm just looking to better that. Still struggling along, currently ranking in the 50s in the team. I may have to stop because of the price of electricity now. The gods are no longer smiling.

RTX 3070 Ti - Monitor says 'no signal'

I have just removed my gtx1070 and fitted a Palit RTX 3070 Ti . The monitor says 'no signal detected'. When I press the reset button, it does not even show the bios screen. The card has 3 display port sockets and an hdmi socket. I am using the hdmi socket.
The fans are turning and the led light show on the card is running. The card remains cold to the touch so there is no folding going on.
Do I need to change back to the 1070 and delete the card device? Buy a display port cable?

With all the recent news articles around folding@home, I am surprised bit-tech hasn't made more noise about their Folding team. Many other sites have and seen a massive rise in team scores this month.

Custom PC & bit-tech team is ranked 12th overall, but are way down on credits in 18th place this month, and it's a busy folding month. I have switched my main machine over to folding for bit-tech, although there aren't a huge number of available work units, but how about a bit of a push on...

Where's the Folding@Home push?
