Have recently bought an acer 5920 laptop but have discovered a weird behaviour. When the lid is closed but the laptop is still running normally after a while the laptop begins to loop through a strange passage of sound/music. It sounds almost like spooky church music (sorry I can't explain it better). Have no idea whether it's a vista thing or something specific to acer? Any ideas? Renoir
I first noticed it happening on the day I got the laptop (had no internet connection) so no virus etc. Flipping the lid open just stops it. A guy on notebook review suggests it might be one of Robert Fripps' soundscapes.
If you bought it while it was on display its possible it could have been messed with. it could be an low battery alarm? im not sure i had a problem were mine would play some women talking from time to time it was just a virus tho.
Was the laptop by chance the seventh version of a seventh version? have you tried appeasing the beast by offering it some sort of sacrifice? Or muted the speakers, then see if it still occurs? How about taking a peak in Windows' sound scheme thingy?
It was indeed the acer screensaver. Changed it so problem solved. Thanks for the comments guys, made me chuckle p.s. I thought when you close the lid the display is turned off rather than having a screensaver run?
You poor soul, I feel for you! No really I do! robert fripp sucks, saw him at a G3 gig in manchester a few years back proper suck ass performance! Edit: Glad you got it sorted out!
Haha! I remember at school we used to have Acer laptops in the class with the default screensaver, adn when the teacher started talking and we stopped using the laptops for about 5 mins the music you describe would start playing across the room
