Seriously impressed there, it looks fantastic, apart from the fact the specs were etched in, what were they thinking?

Bittech shopping shows at £245 as the lowest price.. however Its appearing at £285 - think you'll need to change that!

Yep, & the link I provided (post # 15) shows that the people here at Bit have seen that (even if they haven't tested it yet)

Only problem is that it isn't 1600x1200. But it sure is a damn good Monitor. As like all Samsungs are. :)

I'm now seriously tempted by this one however I really need to know one thing: What's it like for photo editing, is its colour representation actually any good?
I have read the article and it really only covers gaming in all fairness. Perhaps its something to add to future reviews?

Can someone verify the above statement, please?

Samsung Website Specs say 226BW is capable of 16.7M
Samsung Australia Tech Support over the phone have confirmed (twice) it is 8bit; (they even asked a supervisor in charge of Monitor Support!)
PCWorld (Aus) review states 8bit colour processing.

Only a handful of people both here and on Whirlpool Forums insist it's just a TN panel with no hope of being 8bit.

Can someone get this straight once and for all?!?!?!

The SM226BW is approx Au$150 more expensive than Chimei 221D and Viewsonic VX2235wm and many other TN 2ms panels...

... is the 226BW simply more expensive, with no improvements to justify the price difference?!?

    Thanks.

    MM

Hey, welcome to the forums. :thumb:

I'm 99.9% sure that the panel is a 6-bit TN. Virtually every 22" out there uses a TN panel.

G'Day Tim and thank you for the welcome! I did barge in without proper intro, my bad...

From DownUnder, 40, spare time system builder...

I am really confused now... I was reading Ananadtech Forums LCD sticky thread...

    http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.aspx?catid=31&threadid=2049206&enterthread=y

And they list my current Viewsonic VP930b 19" LCD Professional Series (very expensive) monitor as a 6bit Hi-FRC,
but I know for a fact the VP930b is a true 8bit... so I guess there is a bit of confusion outthere, maybe...?

    C U around!

    Cheers

    MM
