MR BUNGLE, Opera allows you to apply per-site rules, including the option to turn Java and Plug-ins off, should be able to sort it using those. Bindi, I realise you may have been saying that as a joke, but the sort of thing Mr BUNGLE is experiencing is the sort of thing that causes people to simply block all the adverts and never turn them back on again (even after the offending code is removed).
Well, it seems alien to me why you'd use a browser that would inhibit your ability to actually use the net. The core function it's designed to actually DO. Normally people will throw a fit at the software. /winds up spec.
Do they keep you in the basement? Also, Opera's cack handed implementation is far better than firefox's and internet explorers. Safari would have to win on that front though. Just try em all and see which one runs smoother. If you have firefox, opera or safari with flash content, as soon as you can't see the flash, ie, its in an unselected tab, its not using any of your resources. If you tried the same in IE7 you'd soon notice a difference.
Because for people viewing on notebooks it tends to rape the battery life. Flash getting more and more complex is an issue and we have in the past sent back banners to be re-written. Sadly the trend is that banners aren't going to get any less convoluted. It's nothing at all to do with Opera
LOL! Yes, Wil, with the rest of editorial. Rich - trend of the net in general though. Every site does it :/
I had to install a flash blocking plug in for Firefox, eBay was running an add which used most of my cpu and left my machine virtually unusable. Personally i prefer these big full pages ads too flash ones.
Well y'see, Opera is designed for the net as it should be designed, and doesn't fix problems for people who code poorly. I don't throw a fit at the code, I simply stop using the site that the code exists on. /winds up all of bit-tech and possibly makes RTT's & Jamie's heads explode.
I was wondering what you guys were talking about. I just reloaded the front page and I got to say, I honestly did not notice it until you pointed it out. I think I must have blinkers on when it comes to bit-tech I never notice any the ads as im hunting for something interesting to read inside. Oh well, nevermine. I have to say it does look good they way it spreads acros each table cell.
Exaclty the same. I had to go back to the front page to see what it was all about. As for the ad, it's not too bad because it doesn't disrupt the content, but it is a bit busy / flashy etc.
THERE'S AN ACTUAL SITE?! **** me, I thought this was just a forum thing. Are the articles on there any good?
