It's been faster than usual for me in the past couple of days as well, so whether they're in financial trouble or not it doesn't seem like they're losing servers. Coupled with the blatant Uncyclopedia plugging I'd say it was a load of crap.
is it not obvious that this article was a joke? Disregarding that they couldn't tell wikipedia and wikia apart, the very concept of selling servers resulting in anything but slower lowding is absurd. Edit - yeah, look. It's from Uncyclopedia.

Also they would of have the servers in a data center, so their servers would be their property and all they would pay for is the space and power, if they hadn't paid they would be thrown i doubt they would be auctioned off! I also don't think Jimmy Wales is that stupid to not pay the bills for the data center either, this story must be a load of crap!
The next step for Wiki must be decentralisation. It's unlikely this would cause it to go down but they've had money troubles in the past and we can't let a resource like Wiki ever vanish from the internet. Would be hard to pull off no doubt.

The link is from uncyclopedia... Its basically 1 big joke website based off of Wikipedia. in fact it has some pretty funny articles on there.
