computer games only? final fantasy 8. FF7 had great music... but only if you bought the orchestral soundtracks. FF8 sounded a lot better in-game. shame that 9-12 never came on PC.
Sorry, thought you meant Halo 2. Did Halo 1 actually have music? In H2 it was the bit where you got to protect the Scarab I think.
Blow Me Away, was only in one area of the entire game. It is where your with MC and your about to enter the Mausoleum. With the Halo OST's, i prefered Cario Suite, and Delta Halo Suite. Command and Conquer does it for me. Hell March from Red Alert (Is not a Song, its music) Hell March 2 (HM 2) from Red Alert 2 And pretty much all the other RA, RA2, Yuris Revenge and Generals OST i will listen too. Sam
Max Payne 2 - End credits theme (Poets of the Fall - Late Goodbye) Really polished off a great game that felt for the most part like a movie, awesome.
The theme from Green Beret on the Amstrad 464 CPC. So good I can still hum it, like, 20-odd years later. And the song from Cannon Fodder... "WAR! Has never been so much fun! WAR! Has never been soooo much fun!" Classics.
Monkey Island series for the win. Then Grim Fandango. Outcast (I love that orchestra). Oh, and Fallout 1 and 2 (Inkspots Cheesecake). And BioShock for the same reason. Worst game music though? Unfortunatley, I'd have to say Deus Ex. The techno beat stood out as a real weak point in an otherwise flawless game.
I'll toss my vote in for the soundtrack to the first Homeworld... When I first bought this game years ago, I got the pack with the soundtrack CD, and that disc got more playtime than most of my other CDs. Very soothing.
Doom Super star in various mario games (specially Super paper mario on Wii) Potential Spoiler to those who haven't played it
The music from the first C&C is the best in the series imo. Also the score from Oblivion is great, its so atmopsheric and I love the intro music. Just listen to the music in this clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGyw_0IG5s0 and tell me thats not a great theme
I am surprised I didn't reply to this thread before... but anyway I am sorry guys but there is no contest here. The Intro theme of MegaMan III on the NES wins this one EASILY (i still have a feeling I replied to this thread before, I should chcek agian) I certainly did not expect to see a youtube video of MusicPlus here (the french canadian version of MuchMusic)
Streets of Rage series - Yuzo Koshiro is a god among men when it comes to old school beats. I don't even like Techno but I love these games because of it. Quake - Trent Reznor. Nuff Said. The Halo OST is great, as is the Splinter Cell (original) with The Crystal Method. Max Payne. And virtually anything Yoko Kanno has done. Ever. Although I'm not sure if she's made it to game yet.
I have Street of Rage 2 on the gamegear, do you know if it's the same music as on the Genesis ? I am way too lazy to verify
Lots of really good music listed here. What list would be complete without the Deus Ex intro though! For its time the music was excellent quality. The original music so its popping up on a few sites (such as http://jadiepoo.com/dx/OST/) converted from its original umx format into handy mp3's
Go to your brother Kill him with your gun Leave him lying in his uniform Dying in the sun! War, it's never been so much fun Sheer genius
The best music from the MegaMan series was from MegaMan II I'm usually one for listening to VG music as it was in the game but I do like the occational remix and this remix of the MegaMan II music is one of my favorites Right click, Save As
More than likely if they were the same time period. Much respect to MM2! My first game on my first console - the NES. Anyone else think they should have "retro gaming music nights" in nightclubs? How ****ing awesome would that be? EDIT: Shame about all that **** talking about the beginning but that MM2 remix is fantastic
