Sony was a big seller in the early portable audio generation for good sound.

I'm surprised that so many people have Creative (and other) players actually. I expected to see almost everyone choosing Apple. I suppose it's us techies knowing what we're buying, rather than joe-random on the street only knowing about one product - iPod.

hehe yep... the results of that poll dont really reflect the marketshares...

i got a creative zen v+ 4 GB... it was cheaper than an ipod, smaller and creative makes quality products (excluding vista drivers for x-fi:wallbash:) so i thought screw apple.

Same here, it's a great player, full of file tree organisation, and .ogg and FLAC playing goodness, but isn't the sub-pack/break-out-box/mini-dock/thing annoying?

Seriously why couldn't those four connectors have been built into the unit, especially the power connector, who put the power socket on something you can loose?

Bought the X5 to replace my old Creative DAP Jukebox, because I got fed-up of carrying around a huge mutant CD player with terrible battery life, and the spare set of batteries to go with it. Damn thing still works of course as it's apparently indestructible, and still one of the few portable players capable of recording WAV through the line in, so it now has a new career in archiving my parents vinyl.

Not sure which one you had. I had Jukebox 3. That is a brick but I still say there was no better player. Line input for recording, dual analog out for surround sound and the optical connection. I still use it at home.
As for portable ZEN Micro is my player now but I am gettin this Creative ZEN soon.

On the other hand, some techies just choose a product that does what it does very well, regardless of the brand. ;)

And nobody disses the Creative Jukebox. There is no school like old skool, and regardless of all the other flashy MP3 players out there, Creative did it first. Even before the iPod.
