What things happen and remind youthat your a nerd or make you feel nerdy? My own - the clock on computer just read 15:01 and i thought off Dell Laptops i say LOL in my head only sometimes rare lol if i see something funny You can talk for hours to people on msn but when you meet them at party or something you dont know what to say. What are yours??
We regularly speak in abbreviations in the office and my gf laughed at me last night because I said "roffles" out loud.
I see people wandering around uni and think to myself, "I understand your T-Shirts" and what they are talkign about, but some of the things are so majorly geeky that it's unbelievable. Like a guy walking around with a giant HL2 logo on his t-shirt. Texts to the clubs "text coob" thing that say "The Pool is Closed" and similarly geeky things. Sometimes I snort and people ask me to explain them.
I've gotten into the habit now of saying lol simply because of the irony, however non-office folks don't get it so I've made myself stop. I refer to some people as "noob" without even thinking if they understand me - that's possibly worse.
Generally when I talk to my mates about things to do with computing for something else nerdy like trains. Or, when I wear my Pi t-shirt in public.
When I make a mistake I think ctrl + z in my head. When I'm writing I think ctrl + c and ctrl + p in my head I have a t-shirt that has the morse code for nerd on it. The great thing is though, that if someone actually realised that it said nerd they would be in fact an even bigger nerd for pointing it out. I get the occasional smirk from it though, or a knowing nod and a grin... The funny thing is, I don't even know morse code, I just thought it was cool
I've actually said to a friend "Hey, I just checked out your Twitter", and neither of us laughed or were disturbed.

I have After a few hours of Medal Of Honor I walked to the chippy, and it took me a while to realise that the chance of enemies on a rooftop (IRL, that is) would be rather slim. Then I felt stupid (duh). Thinking "lol" when something's funny. Saying "noob" and "leet" out loud. Every time I explain or help with code/general computer stuff/etc to a friend. Compiling this little list.
The nerdiest thing I do is probably buy books about computer games and spend ages listening to the behind the scenes commentary etc on HL2. I have all the making of books and game art books I can find and, whenever I'm not reading a comic, I'm reading one of them.
Wouldn't that lower your nerd score? Having a “nerd score” and inventing rules based on the quality of the programming languages one uses.
Saying "lol" out loud. Calling people noobs. Talking about micro. Being good at maths. Rolling 20s with my homies. Calling my friends 'homies'.
I hear you! The number of times I'm searching through a textbook or really long document looking for a single sentence and wishing I could just ctrl+F straight too it is crazy. Other stuff? Smiling at IBM adverts which no-one else in the room understands. Geekspeak (but not geek abreviations) have also made their way firmly into my language, regardless of whether the person I'm talking to is aware what a noob/asshat etc. is or not. Getting annoyed when someone brings up a subject I don't know everything about.
