From what I've seen an researched, the new AMD phenom will fit into socket AM2. I'm planning on buying a computer soon and wondering if this mobo will support the phenom when it comes out.

I've seen varying reports about some manufacturers releasing a firmware update so that the older mobos will be able to support the new processors, but I'm not sure.

Will this work? Should i wait?

    thanks in advance :)

AM2+ processors will work in AM2 boards, but you lose out on some special voltage controls.

So, i'm getting the feeling i won't loose out on any speed then, which is what i was really worried about.

No you wont, as said the only thing lost is the voltage regulation which the new AM2+ cpu's can regulate each separate cores voltage and core speeds.

You also lose out on the AM2+ 2.0Ghz Hyper-Transport speeds, and are limited by the 1.0Ghz of AM2. I don't know if this will have any effect on performance however.
